About The Position

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis will lead and perform key aspects of the company’s financial activities including budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, research and analysis, report preparation, and assisting with month-end close processes. We seek someone with an MBA and progressive experience in private equity or investment banking. This person will need a strong skill set in complex excel modeling skills and analytics. The pay range is $125,000 - $150,000. This position is 100% in office, in the Hillcrest area of San Diego, CA. There is no relocation available for anyone out of the area.

Requirements

BS in Accounting or Finance required
MBA and experience in private equity, investment banking, or strategy consulting firm required
5+ years’ experience of strong and progressive financial planning & analysis required
Advanced skills with Excel, Power Point and database programming
Knowledge of and skill in corporate finance, budgeting, and performance management
Exceptional analytical and data modeling skills, and experience applying these skills to improve operational performance
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to interact with senior executives and management, as well as business staff at all levels
Ability to handle multiple priorities and effectively meet critical deadlines
Natural curiosity for problem solving
Strong attention to detail

Responsibilities

Coordinate with CFO on long-term financial planning to predict current and future performance
Serve as key business partner to senior management, providing financial insights and recommendations
Lead financial forecasting, planning and budgeting processes, preparing annual budgets and monthly forecasts
Manage and deliver timely and accurate weekly and monthly reporting and analysis on key performance metrics, identifying key insights and trends while providing recommendations for improvement
Analyze financial statements and report on current financial status and health
Partner with development and operations on new store analytics and measurements around capital expenditures, restaurant-level profits, and returns on investment
Develop financial models and projections though benchmarking and process analysis
Lead analysis of marketing and pricing initiatives, including recommendations and performance tracking
Analyze and review proposals for any system related to financial accounting methods
Work collaboratively and cross-functionally to prepare and deliver comprehensive evaluations, proposals, and recommendations to stakeholders
Lead analysis of pricing initiatives, including assistance in creation of pricing and revenue optimization solutions and measurement of performance
Annual G&A budget preparation, monthly analysis, and cause of change reporting
Provide analytical support for the executive management team
Identify areas for financial optimization and cost management
Lead special projects as needed to support marketing/ops/real estate etc.
Communicate financial information clearly and concisely to all audiences
Manage and develop internal Analysts and provide coaching as needed
Manage large data sets from disparate sources for data mining, analysis, and research
Manage internal Analyst and external accounting team and provide coaching as needed
Identify and remove obstacles for General Managers to run their locations according to all Better Buzz Coffee standards while maximizing efficiency and profitability
Provide clear and consistent direction through performance feedback and adhere to accounting and financial systems
