An Exciting Opportunity at the Nexus of Politics, Energy, Technology, and Sustainability: The Manager, Federal Government Affairs in Washington, DC USA - Schneider Electric will play a key role in advancing Schneider Electric’s U.S. federal advocacy strategy across a portfolio that includes power and grid infrastructure, sustainability, electrification, energy resilience, residential energy, and more. This role will report directly to the Head of Federal Government Relations, collaborating across the North America Government Relations team to drive legislative and regulatory outcomes aligned with Schneider Electric’s business priorities and growth strategy. The Manager will engage directly with Congress, federal agencies, and industry associations and coalitions on behalf of Schneider, positioning the company as a leading energy technology partner.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 – 10 years of experience working in policy environments including corporate government relations functions, Capitol Hill, federal agencies, or industry associations
  • Strong expertise in energy policy, sustainability, electrification, clean energy, and/or infrastructure policy
  • Proven ability to synthesize complex legislative and regulatory texts into actionable briefings and memos
  • Demonstrated success working across complex, matrixed organizations to align federal goals with state-level priorities and global corporate strategy
  • Experience drafting legislation, legislative feedback, and/or congressional leave-behinds and collateral for influence
  • Ability to tie federal policy trends to specific corporate growth areas and business unit P&L
  • Demonstrated skill in coordinating multi-stakeholder initiatives such as fly-ins, roundtables, conferences, etc.
  • Enjoy socializing, networking and facilitating connections
  • Excel at managing numerous projects as a contributor and self-starter
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (a writing sample will be required)
  • Hold a degree in Political Science, Public Administration, International Affairs, Government Relations, Economics, Law, or similar.
  • Ability to register as a federal lobbyist and comply with all applicable lobbying disclosure, ethics, and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to and execute Schneider Electric’s federal advocacy strategy across priority policy areas including: Grid modernization, transmission, technology, and resilience; Electrification across homes, transportation, and the federal government; Clean energy deployment and decarbonization; Power infrastructure, distributed energy resources, and more.
  • Lead and coordinate Schneider Electric’s appropriations strategy and advocacy including the submission of requests, coordination with business units, monitoring, and organizing appropriate executive and business leader touchpoints.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Members of Congress and their staff, including those on key committees to Schneider Electric priorities (e.g., Energy and Commerce, Energy and Natural Resources, Appropriations, Armed Services), and federal agencies (e.g., DOE, FERC, EPA, etc.).
  • Represent Schneider Electric in trade associations, coalitions, and industry working groups to advance shared policy priorities across power, grid, and climate.
  • Monitor, analyze, and influence legislative and regulatory developments impacting policy topics in the Manager’s portfolio.
  • Translate complex policy developments into actionable insights and advocacy strategies tied to business outcomes and growth areas.
  • Support the development of legislative and regulatory proposals, comments, and positions aligned with Schneider Electric’s priorities.
  • Develop internal briefings and educational materials to advance awareness of policies impacting Schneider Electric operations, growth, and customers.
  • Support execution of congressional and agency engagement strategies, including briefings, fly-ins, and executive-level meetings.
  • Draft briefing memos, leave-behinds, and advocacy collateral, including for use by senior executives.
  • Coordinate with external consultants, trade associations, and coalition partners to drive activity supportive of Schneider Electric’s policy goals in the U.S. and to maximize advocacy impact.
  • Partner with colleagues on the State Government Relations team to align federal and state strategies and drive integrated outcomes on power and grid policies.
  • Help position Schneider Electric as a thought leader on grid modernization, speed to power, electrification, and sustainability policy.
  • Identify opportunities for proactive executive engagement in federal policy discussion, roundtables, and industry forums.
