About The Position

Reporting to the Manager, Food & Beverage, the successful candidate will oversee banquet and event operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, high service standards, strong team engagement, and effective operational execution. This role will lead and motivate a team of 40+ service professionals, oversee multiple functions simultaneously, and act as the key liaison between clients, kitchen teams, and service staff. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining service excellence, supporting cost control initiatives, and ensuring the seamless delivery of events while contributing to the overall objectives of the Resort and Food & Beverage operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of banquet or event management experience in a hotel, conference centre, golf club, or upscale hospitality environment.
  • Proven experience leading and managing teams of 20 or more employees.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple events, priorities, and operational requirements simultaneously.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm, focused, and decisive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of banquet operations, food and beverage service, and event logistics.
  • Experience with scheduling, labour management, and inventory control.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada

  • Post-secondary education in Hospitality Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Smart Serve Certification (or provincial equivalent) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and execution of multiple banquet functions simultaneously, including weddings, corporate events, galas, conferences, and private functions.
  • Serve as the visible on-floor leader during all events, ensuring seamless operations and exceptional guest satisfaction.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of 40+ banquet servers, bartenders, captains, and support staff.
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings and event briefings to ensure all team members understand event details, service expectations, and operational goals.
  • Collaborate with culinary, sales, and event planning teams to ensure successful event execution.
  • Monitor staffing levels and labor costs while maintaining service excellence.
  • Address guest concerns promptly and professionally, ensuring a positive resolution.
  • Ensure all banquet setups, service standards, and breakdown procedures are completed efficiently and accurately.
  • Maintain compliance with health, safety, liquor, and company policies.
  • Train and mentor team members, fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions as required.
