About The Position

The Manager, Event Strategy is a critical, high-impact leadership role within Trimble Transportation, responsible for leading all event strategy, planning, management, production, and sponsorship initiatives. This position spearheads major sector events, including the proprietary annual Trimble Insight Conference (typically 1,200-2,000 attendees) and numerous trade show exhibitions throughout the year. We require a highly strategic, creative, and detail-oriented self-starter who excels at anticipating project needs, discerning work priorities, and building strong, positive relationships across the Trimble community, vendors, and partners. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Marketing, this role is responsible for managing a small team of event and marketing professionals, as well as trusted external event partners.

Requirements

  • Minimum 12 years of demonstrable experience managing complex, primarily in-person events.
  • Proven ability to lead events end-to-end, managing a distributed team of internal staff and external vendors.
  • Expertise in independent budget creation, management, and comprehensive contract negotiation.
  • Exceptional project management skills, ensuring on-time delivery and reliable execution of all project phases.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to investigate event venues and manage in-person events.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven track record of managing large-scale mid-size, in-person (and potentially) virtual events that deliver memorable customer and staff experiences.
  • Highly detail-oriented, with the drive and desire to develop, manage, and execute highly successful events.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and manage cross-functional team members who are not direct reports, particularly those geographically dispersed.
  • Extensive experience managing external agencies, freelancers, and contractor talent.
  • A resourceful and curious approach, encouraging the exploration of "big ideas" while synthesizing multiple inputs for strategic decisions.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and editorial communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Sheets, Slides, Drive, Docs)
  • Familiarity with project management tools, specifically Monday.com
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to enhance efficiency and refine event deliverables

Responsibilities

  • Lead all facets of full-scale event execution (1,200-2,000 attendees), including convention/expo planning, complex contract negotiation, and overall logistics leadership.
  • Demonstrate proven leadership and mentoring skills to guide the team, set the strategic direction, and manage all stakeholders.
  • Leverage a deep well of creativity balanced with a solid ability to evaluate risk versus impact before deploying innovative ideas.
  • Develop the creative vision, environmental design, and overall theme for the annual multi-day thought leadership/user conference, ensuring the design creates a comprehensive and engaging brand journey that fulfills all stakeholder objectives and success metrics.
  • Define key messages, strategic objectives, and measurable success metrics to serve as guiding principles for all event activities.
  • Oversee the comprehensive logistical planning and flawless execution of the approximate 2,000-attendee, multi-faceted conference.
  • Prepare, recommend, and manage event budgets, marketing plans, and operational objectives, ensuring execution remains within approved financial and strategic guidelines.
  • Strategically manage events as integrated marketing campaigns, not isolated activities, by collaborating with the event marketing manager to set communication, design, messaging, and engagement plans.
  • Monitor promotional schedules and registration goals, partnering with the marketing team to drive effective and timely promotion of key event elements.
  • Establish formal measurement practices and success metrics; ensure seamless lead flow management and accurate post-event reporting.
  • Coach and guide Trimble colleagues to consistently uphold and reflect company service standards and procedures during event execution.
  • Drive and manage cross-sector collaboration to promote a business culture of sharing and leveraging event best practices.
