Position Summary We have an opportunity for a Manager - Environmental, Health, Safety & Security to join our team. In this role, you will lead environmental, health, safety, security, and sustainability programs at our Madison site. You will ensure compliance with regulations, strengthen EHS&S culture, and integrate risk-based decision-making into daily operations. This position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on safety and operational excellence in a dynamic and innovative environment. Shift: Monday – Friday, core hours 8am-5pm Location: Madison, WI 100% Onsite

Requirements

  • Master of Science or Master of Arts in Environmental, Health, Safety & Security, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or related field with 7 years of experience; or Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Environmental, Health, Safety & Security, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or related field with a minimum of 10 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership of EHS&S programs in a regulated Good Manufacturing Practice manufacturing or laboratory environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and applicable environmental, health, safety, and security requirements.
  • Experience managing risk-based EHS&S programs, including compliance, hazardous waste, wastewater, industrial hygiene, incident investigation, and corrective action systems.
  • Experience partnering with regulatory agencies, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional leaders to sustain audit readiness and operational compliance.
  • Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice documentation, quality systems, and regulated operational requirements.
  • Individual must be able to see, hear, read, and write clear English.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reading of written documents and use of computer monitor screen, reaching with hands and arms, talking, writing, listening.
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, carrying, grasping.
  • Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
  • Must comply with EHS responsibilities.
  • Lab work may involve irritants, electrical equipment, sharp instruments, toxic materials, hazardous waste.
  • Clean room gowning required.
  • Demonstrable leadership experience at Catalent (including but not limited to participation in Catalent‑sponsored leadership programs such as NGGL, GOLD, LEAD Now, GM Excellence, and GROW) may be considered in place of external experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide site leadership and strategic direction for environmental, health, safety, security, and sustainability programs.
  • Lead the Madison EHS&S strategy in alignment with corporate policy, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, business priorities, client expectations, and site growth objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and federal, state, and local requirements by managing permits, reporting, inspections, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Oversee safety, environmental, industrial hygiene, biosafety, security, emergency preparedness, business continuity, and sustainability programs.
  • Manage site risk, including hazard assessments, high-risk work controls, contractor safety, energy control, confined space entry, and hazardous materials and waste programs.
  • Ensure effective execution of EHS&S programs across all site functions through clear standards, accountability, and coaching.
  • Lead incident and near-miss investigations, implement corrective actions, and use metrics and continuous improvement to drive performance.
  • Develop and sustain EHS&S training, committees, and culture-building initiatives to strengthen competency and proactive risk management.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to integrate EHS&S requirements into projects, change management, and site initiatives.
