About The Position

The Manager, Enterprise Architecture serves as the lead visionary and final architectural authority for AFSC, ensuring the digital ecosystem is resilient, integrated, and optimized to support the Next Horizon 2025-2030 strategic plan. This leadership role governs the enterprise architecture practice, managing a team of domain and solution architects to bridge complex business strategies with scalable technology execution. Operating at the highest levels of the organization, the Principal Architect aligns multi-million-dollar technology investments (spanning Azure, Salesforce, ERP, and AI platforms) with capital planning, actively manages enterprise technical debt, and acts as a trusted transformation partner to the Senior Manager of Enterprise & Engineering, the CIO, and executive business leaders.

Requirements

  • Strong architectural leadership and communication skills, effectively setting boundaries, managing senior stakeholders, and translating complex technical concepts into clear, business-focused value.
  • Holistic and forward-looking mindset, with the ability to integrate legacy systems, cloud platforms, and business processes while planning scalable 3–5 year evolution strategies.
  • Deep expertise in governance and modern IT practices, including cybersecurity (e.g., Zero Trust), enterprise security architecture, and Agile/DevOps delivery models.
  • Experienced change leader and framework expert, combining servant leadership with proficiency in TOGAF and enterprise architecture tools to drive adoption and manage organizational resistance.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration (MBA), or a related field; OR a Bachelor's degree combined with equivalent executive-level IT leadership experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive IT experience spanning current, cloud-native (Azure, Salesforce), and legacy architectures, with deep exposure to enterprise security, data integration, and emerging practices like AI.
  • 5+ years of managerial and leadership experience within Enterprise or Solution Architecture, including proven success building, mentoring, and directing high-performing technical teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Enterprise Architecture framework certification (TOGAF) is strongly preferred.
  • Recognized security certifications (CISSP, Azure Security) certifications are considered significant assets.

Responsibilities

  • Leads enterprise architecture strategy and governance, setting standards across business, data, application, and technology domains, chairing the Architecture Review Board, and resolving architectural risks and disputes.
  • Owns technology investment and roadmap planning, including budget oversight, multi-year hybrid cloud strategy (Azure, Salesforce, SAP), and alignment with corporate and digital transformation goals.
  • Drives risk, compliance, and governance frameworks, including exception management, technical debt control, legacy system decommissioning, and enterprise AI/data governance with a focus on security and responsible AI.
  • Leads and evolves the Architecture Practice, defining service offerings, maintaining key artifacts and standards, implementing tools/frameworks, and ensuring measurable, supportable solutions that reduce cost and improve delivery.
  • Manages and develops the architecture team, overseeing workforce planning, recruitment, performance, and succession while mentoring architects to drive capability maturity.
  • Partners with executives and cross-functional leaders to translate business strategy into technology outcomes, enable digital transformation, ensure compliance, and evaluate emerging technologies to deliver business value.
