About The Position

This role involves analyzing business needs and software requirements to determine design feasibility within time and cost constraints. The Manager, Engineering will design, develop, and modify software systems and applications to meet business and technical requirements. Responsibilities include developing and supporting applications and APIs using Spring Boot, REST web services, Guidewire, Duck Creek, AWS, and cloud-based platforms. The position requires conferring with various stakeholders to define system capabilities, limitations, interfaces, and technical requirements. Additionally, the role involves modifying existing software to correct errors, improve performance, and adapt systems to new technologies. The Manager, Engineering will analyze technical information to recommend and plan new system implementations or modifications, guide low-level architecture, detailed system design, and implementation of digital solutions, and help establish engineering processes, standards, and best practices. The role also entails determining and evaluating system performance standards and supporting improvements for scalability, availability, and production readiness. A key aspect of this role is supervising, mentoring, and assigning work to software engineers and other technical team members, and collaborating with Infrastructure, Security, and DevOps teams to support deployment and platform stability. Domestic travel is required up to 10%, and telecommuting is permitted up to 70%.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics Engineering, or a related field and eight (8) years of experience in the job offered or in an Engineering Manager Support-related occupation.
  • Demonstrable experience in analyzing business requirements for alignment with technology architecture, infrastructure design, and technology selection decisions to assist with designing and implementing solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Demonstrable experience in Enterprise application integration, Business intelligence or decision support system, and Enterprise data design and management.
  • Demonstrable experience in evaluating team and individual performance and making compensation recommendations.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing, planning and administering the operational and administrative activities of Tech Support operations.
  • Demonstrable experience in collaborating with Product leadership and helping facilitate analysis, development and communication of overall IT Decommission Strategies tied to announced LOB Product Platform Migrations.
  • Demonstrable experience with systems and vendor selection and System integration and IT process re-engineering.
  • Demonstrable experience with application architecture and design across enterprise systems.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing APIs using REST Web Services in the application.
  • Demonstrable experience in designing and coding in SpringBoot.
  • Demonstrable experience in Data and infrastructure architecture disciplines.
  • Demonstrable experience in troubleshooting to determine the root cause in complex application architectures.
  • Demonstrable experience with logging applications.
  • Experience may be gained during graduate program.
  • Acceptable any suitable combination of education, training, and/or experience.
