Manager Engineering - Transportation

About The Position

Leads Engineering team to analyze client data and processes to achieve improvements in transportation costs, on-time delivery performance, reduction of carbon footprints, and lower costs for GEODIS to provide our customers with transportation management services. Meets regularly with Operations Directors and Managers to develop strategies and identify projects to improve our customers’ business through continuous improvement and process improvements. Assists Operations, IT, and Business Development on new account start up projects to ensure frictionless implementation experience and delivery of commitments made to the customer. Collaborates with Operations and Reporting teams to develop KPI dashboards to identify opportunities and measure cost savings and on-time performance improvements. Performs client demonstrations and promotes utilization of GEODIS Visibility Portal, our web-based platform allowing internal and external users to track transportation loads, view KPIs, and analyze dashboard data. Develops business requirement documents and tests new features of GEODIS Visibility Portal. Assigns, monitors, and reviews team’s project work and strategic goals to ensure quality, accuracy, timeliness, and follow-through. Establishes standardized approaches to analytical projects and facilitates best practice sharing between engineers and analysts in the Transportation Engineering team. Identifies sustainability and green logistics opportunities to reduce carbon footprints through routing improvements, freight consolidation, and mode/equipment selection. Audits and reports on realized P&L impacts of engineering projects that are implemented. Establishes team member development plans to build skills and advance their career path.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years related experience and/or training in a transportation or distribution environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in a 3PL environment preferred
  • Deep expertise in Tier 1 Transportation Management Systems and Freight Optimization Software, such as MercuryGate, Oracle, SAP, or Manhattan
  • Supply chain network optimization tools, such as Aptean/Logility or Coupa/Llamasoft
  • Business intelligence (BI) visualization proficiency, such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Experience with Alteryx or similar analytical workflow tools
  • Intermediate experience writing SQL queries
  • Knowledge of EDI, APIs, and B2B integrations to understand the data flows between GEODIS, customers, carriers, and vendors
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, and Outlook
