Requirements

  • BNSF Tier III qualification
  • Self-directed, motivated, and have good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Solid understanding of FRA and BNSF track standards and regulations
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to relay information in a clear, concise, and understandable manner, verbal or written
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong knowledge of track maintenance on how to detect, protect, and repair track deviations
  • Working knowledge of Engineering operations and safety rules
  • Excellent leadership skills as described in the BNSF Leadership Model
  • Minimum 3 years of supervising employee work groups
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or other related degree

Responsibilities

  • Clearly communicate the vision of zero track-caused derailments.
  • Manage and lead Tier III field training; this includes both classroom instruction and field demonstrations.
  • Assist division leadership with implementation of FRA Requalification and Track Stability training.
  • Reduce track-caused derailments through effective training, coaching, communication, and empowerment.
  • Monitor derailment reporting and assist with derailment investigations.
  • Review and communicate lessons learned from track inspection related derailments.
  • Build relationships with local FRA inspectors.
  • Monitor FRA defects and ensure division personnel are properly remediating and reporting.
  • Perform Track Inspector Evaluations.
  • Provide coaching and training for the FLS on their Track Inspector Evaluations.
  • Monitor track inspection compliance and defect reporting.
  • Communicate status weekly to the division.
  • Manage and lead the training to ensure compliance and understanding with electronic reporting (EAM).
  • Evaluate areas of concern, provide feedback, and assist with improvements to current training.
  • Audit work activities to ensure compliance and progress.
  • Support manager-led duties on the division, including but not limited to, operation test teams, weekend and vacation coverage, and service interruption response.
