About The Position
The Data Science team at Clover is responsible for improving the merchant experience by building AI, Machine Learning (ML) and Data Engineering (DE) powered features into Clover products. The team builds both AI/ML/Data applications as well as the underlying platform architecture required to scale these experiences. As a successful Engineering Manager (AI/ML/DE), you will provide technical leadership for a team of data scientists, machine learning and Data engineers as well as work closely with Product Management on developing AI products for Clover merchants.
Requirements
- 3+ years of industry experience leading teams of data scientist and machine learning engineers responsible for developing end-to-end customer-facing AI/ML applications and data infrastructure
- 5+ years (Fluency) in Python, REST APIs, and AI/ML frameworks, modeling techniques, and model serving
- 5+ years experience with data stores (relational (e.g. MySQL, Snowflake), Data pipelining tools (Kafka, Pubsub, ETL), NoSQL (e.g.MongoDB, Redis), object (e.g. GCS), vector databases), CI/CD (Docker, Jenkins), serverless (Cloud Run/Functions)
- Strong, internally motivated mindset to improve the team’s capabilities in a rapid, iterative, thoughtful, proactive, organized, and empathetic manner
- Effective communication skills to convey complex concepts in a concise manner in written, visual, and verbal form to both technical and non-technical, leadership audiences
Nice To Haves
- Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline: Machine Learning. Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics or equivalent
Responsibilities
- Leverage your AI/ML/DE experience to lead and mentor a team of data scientists, machine learning and Data engineers in developing end-to-end, customer-facing AI/ML and ETL applications and platforms.
- Research state-of-the-art AI/ML/DE techniques to incorporate into the team’s best practices/design patterns
- Collaborate directly with Product, Design, and Engineering counterparts on shaping the roadmap, user experience, and technical infrastructure
- Quantify and communicate the value and impact of AI/ML applications and Data Engineering development work to leadership teams and broader audiences
