About The Position

Ashby is seeking an experienced Events Manager to lead its internal events function and deliver high-quality, memorable experiences for its fully remote team. This role sits within the People team and is responsible for Ashby’s internal events strategy and execution, including company offsites, team gatherings, and regional meetups. The position is hands-on, requiring a blend of operational rigor, exceptional taste, and attention to detail. The Events Manager will be responsible for setting the direction, owning major programs, building the event playbook, establishing systems, and developing vendor relationships to enable the function to scale. As Ashby grows, the role will focus on raising the bar through longer-term planning, repeatable operating systems, and consistent execution across various event sizes and formats.

Requirements

  • Significant experience leading and executing large-scale internal events, ideally in high-growth or fast-moving environments.
  • Experience planning complex events for 500+ attendees, including multi-day programs, travel-heavy experiences, and international destinations.
  • Strong capabilities in both strategy and execution, including defining operating models and managing event details for success.
  • Experience managing budgets, external vendors, venue selection, travel logistics, and onsite operations.
  • Proven ability to build playbooks and scalable systems.
  • Strong people and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with leaders across many teams.
  • A high bar for quality and a focus on details that shape the attendee experience.
  • Comfort leading in a lean environment where direct event execution is expected.
  • Enthusiasm for building structure in a growing function and improving work processes.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to support onsite events when needed.
  • Broader People Ops experience is important, with the ability to flex into other People Ops responsibilities beyond events.

Responsibilities

  • Leading Ashby’s internal events strategy and planning, including major company offsites, functional offsites, and regional gatherings.
  • Owning and directly leading one or more of the company's most important events, and serving as a senior driver on other high-impact programs.
  • Managing event logistics, including vendor selection and management, budgeting, travel coordination, venue planning, production, communications, timelines, and onsite execution.
  • Building repeatable systems and playbooks, including processes, templates, planning rhythms, and operating infrastructure for easier and scalable event execution.
  • Managing and supporting a lean events team, clarifying ownership, and creating the necessary structure for effective team operation.
  • Supporting a range of event types, from large-scale global programs to smaller team or regional events, ensuring consistent and effective execution.
  • Partnering cross-functionally with leaders across People, Finance, IT, Marketing, Workplace, and other teams to align on goals, budgets, communications, timelines, and event experience.
  • Raising the quality of the employee experience through events by applying a thoughtful, creative lens to event design, flow, and moments of connection, aligned with Ashby's operating principles.
  • Bringing calm, senior ownership to complex work, balancing long-term planning with hands-on execution, navigating ambiguity, and managing multiple workstreams without sacrificing quality.
