About The Position

This position provides leadership and oversight for the delivery of high-quality patient care across nursing units and EMS/pre-hospital personnel, including collaboration with local fire departments. The Manager will lead all aspects of talent management, including interviewing, hiring, onboarding, training, performance evaluation, and corrective action. They will also develop and manage capital and operating budgets in partnership with the Administrative Director of Emergency Services, monitor financial performance, and address variances. Additionally, the role involves establishing and executing strategic plans and operational goals for the EMS system, mentoring staff, and overseeing department-wide programs such as initial training, continuing education, quality improvement initiatives, and certification/recertification processes. The Manager will also participate in disaster preparedness planning, serve as a subject matter expert, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends. Building and sustaining strong partnerships with hospital leadership, EMS agencies, regulatory bodies, and local fire departments is crucial for enhancing coordination, compliance, and community relations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field required and or obtain undergraduate degree in three years is required
  • Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) and/or EMT-Paramedic licensure required
  • Minimum of three years of hospital-based experience with demonstrated knowledge of EMS and hospital operations

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Health, or Nursing preferred
  • CEN, ACLS, PALS, ENPC, ECRN, PHTLS/ITLS, and Illinois Lead Instructor certification preferred
  • Strong understanding of EMS systems and hospital operations, with the ability to effectively collaborate across pre-hospital and clinical teams in a fast-paced environment

  • Serves as a subject matter expert to staff, providing guidance on complex patient care, operational, and customer service issues
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of industry trends through ongoing education, literature review, and professional development activities
  • Builds and sustains strong partnerships with hospital leadership, EMS agencies, regulatory bodies, and local fire departments to enhance coordination, compliance, and community relations
