About The Position

The Manager of Electrical Engineering participates in the development of the strategic engineering initiatives and is then responsible for transforming the department initiatives into tactical plans to support corporate research and product development goals. This role involves managing and overseeing the design and development of all electrical engineering projects, managing internal and external electrical development resources, analyzing technology and resource needs, and utilizing Agile principles for electrical development initiatives. The position also requires ensuring on-time and on-budget project completion, developing and maintaining budgets, implementing policies and standards, and establishing relationships with various internal departments and external stakeholders. Additionally, the role involves managing intellectual property and performing other assigned duties. People management responsibilities include evaluating team members, cascading information, coaching and mentoring, ensuring team adherence to policies, assigning and reviewing work, and providing feedback.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
Five (5) to Seven (7) years of experience in a research and development (R&D) engineering role, developing platform products
One (1) to Three (3) years of experience in leading teams and managing projects
Strong background using circuit layout and printed circuit board layout software
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams and Project)
Strong background in circuit simulation
Strong background in design for electromagnetic compatibility / electromagnetic interference (EMC/EMI)
Strong ability to develop strategic engineering initiatives to support overall corporate objectives
Strong project planning, organizational management, and technical leadership skills with a proven track record of successful execution
Proven ability to develop and manage projects
Demonstrated relationship management and decision-making skills
Proven ability to lead, motivate and inspire cross-functional teams

Nice To Haves

Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
Three (3) to Five (5) years of experience in a research and development engineering role, developing platform products
Design for Six Sigma experience and Six Sigma Green Belt or higher

Responsibilities

Manages and oversees the design and development of all electrical engineering projects (new and lifecycle).
Manages the internal and external electrical development resources for product development.
Analyzes technology, resource needs, and market demand to plan and assess the feasibility of projects.
Manages electrical development initiatives utilizing Agile principles.
Ensures on-time and on-budget completion of projects.
Develops and maintains approved annual budget.
Develops and implements policies, standards, and procedures for the engineering and technical work in the department.
Establishes and maintains relationships with Product Management, Marketing, Sales, Customer Care, Technical Services, Manufacturing, Quality, Legal, Financial and Purchasing functions.
Schedules and adheres with agency approvals and test standards required for products in identified target markets.
Assists the Legal Department in the managing of intellectual property, including new patent filing and legacy patent administration.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Evaluates team members to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement; collaborate on development actions and ensure resources necessary to complete actions.
Cascades relevant and appropriate information about the company and department effectively and in a timely manner.
Coaches and mentors for skill and knowledge development.
Executes necessary responsibilities of team during absences or alternate engagement.
Ensures team adheres to company policies, practices, and department standards.
Assigns actions and ensure completion.
Reviews work quality and provides feedback and guidance to team.
