About The Position

Provides environmental health and safety (EHS) services to US WorldMeds – Philadelphia | Navy Yard facility, with particular focus on the CMC Manufacturing organization. The Manager, EH&S priorities are to prevent and address work-related injuries and illnesses, assure compliance with EHS laws and regulations, manage EHS risks, prepare the site for dealing with emergencies, promote wellness programs and protect the environment, and promote a culture whereby employee health and safety become part of the site’s culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (Safety, Environmental Science, or related discipline)
  • 5 – 10 years’ experience in EHS program management
  • Working knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations and industry EHS standards
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification, Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM) certification, or equivalent
  • Experience working with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 Management System Standards
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize, evaluate, and recommend controls for workplace hazards
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Effective critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong writing capabilities, especially with writing clear, concise EHS procedures
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to interact with and influence all levels of the organization

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, manages, and administers environmental health and safety management system and its associated programs at the Philadelphia site.
  • Identifies hazards and environmental aspects; manages risks and environmental impacts.
  • Maintains EHS regulatory compliance activities, including preparing and submitting EHS regulatory agency reports and interfacing with regulatory agency personnel.
  • Conducts inspections and audits.
  • Performs evaluations of existing and new processes and equipment to ensure compliance.
  • Supports worker’s compensation claims and return-to-work program.
  • Leads and participates in teams and committees.
  • Conducts industrial hygiene (IH) surveys, job hazard analyses (JHA) and personal protective equipment (PPE) assessments.
  • Conducts ergonomic evaluations.
  • Packages and ships hazardous waste.
  • Provides technical guidance to employees regarding environmental, health and safety related issues or concerns, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develops and manages projects as well as training programs as needed.
  • Leads and/or participate in internal committees where EHS input is needed.
