About The Position

The Manager, Digital User Experience - Converse role is within Converse’s User Experience & Digital Capabilities team, which is responsible for UX design, strategy, and digital product management for converse.com and direct marketing. This position leads a team of UX Strategists and Designers, reports to the Director of UX & Digital Capabilities, and collaborates with merchandising, experience strategy, content design, product management, and technology teams. The role requires a design leader who can manage a team while also contributing hands-on design work, acting as a player-coach. The ideal candidate possesses strong skills in Figma and modern design tools, coupled with experience in people management, including setting goals, coaching, and performance management. They should be comfortable owning a daily design portfolio, leading significant projects, and representing design in go-to-market discussions. Experience in developing design strategies for SEO execution and familiarity with behavioral analytics tools like Contentsquare, as well as interpreting Adobe Analytics or Google Analytics data, are essential. E-commerce design experience is a mandatory requirement for this position.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in UX/product design.
  • 2+ years directly managing designers.
  • Deep craft in Figma and modern design tools.
  • Real people-management experience: setting goals, coaching growth, and owning performance.
  • Comfortable owning a day-to-day portfolio of design work.
  • Experience leading high-visibility engagements.
  • Experience representing design in go-to-market conversations.
  • Developed design strategies to SEO execution.
  • Working fluency in behavioral analytics tools like Contentsquare.
  • Comfortable interpreting Adobe Analytics or Google Analytics data to inform design decisions.
  • E-commerce design experience is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field; or any suitable combination of education, experience, and training.
  • Portfolio-demonstrated expertise at an expert-level craft.

  • Experience partnering with SEO stakeholders to develop strategy — understanding how design and content decisions affect organic search performance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Converse’s UX Design team, managing the daily design portfolio, coaching designers, and contributing hands-on design work in Figma.
  • Drive major design initiatives, from redesigns to go-to-market moments, representing design for Converse Digital.
  • Lead and grow a team of UX Strategists and Designers, setting priorities, coaching craft, and owning performance and career growth.
  • Shape converse.com’s UX strategy in collaboration with experience strategy and merchandising partners, and oversee its design and implementation.
  • Partner with stakeholders to develop SEO strategy and tactical processes that align design and content decisions with converse.com’s organic search performance.
  • Manage the daily UX design portfolio across converse.com and direct marketing, balancing capacity with commerce, marketing, and consumer service roadmaps.
  • Represent UX Design in cross-functional planning meetings with merchandising, experience strategy, and content design.
  • Lead major design engagements end-to-end, including scoping and managing external design agencies.
  • Review and contribute to design work at a staff-plus level of craft, staying hands-on in Figma.
  • Utilize Contentsquare and Adobe/Google Analytics data to identify UX problems, prioritize work, and validate design decisions post-launch.
  • Partner closely with Digital Product Management to ensure alignment between design and product roadmaps.
