About The Position

The Manager, Data Sciences and Analytics manages the development and application of data science methodologies, mathematical modeling, and other analytical optimization techniques to support RTD’s Asset Management program. This position develops and interprets information that assists with decision making, policy formulation, and other Asset Management functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Decision Science, Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, or a similar discipline.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in statistical analysis or data analysis- the ability to compile, code, categorize, calculate, tabulate, audit, and verify information and/or data.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience with data analytics and/or data visualization applications.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a supervisory position.
  • Proficiency in economic and accounting principles and practices, analysis and reporting of financial data.
  • Proficiency in business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Ability to interpret the meaning of information for others — translating or explaining what information means and how it can be used.
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively, which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate specialized information to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to apply analytical reasoning and sound judgement to interpret complex information, identify trends and underlying issues, evaluate alternative solutions, and develop innovative approaches to improve processes and decision-making.
  • Proficiency in research and data analysis with close attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead and develop staff, including setting clear expectations, providing coaching and feedback, and fostering a high-performing, inclusive team culture.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes and interprets Asset Management information and evaluates results to assess and identify alternative solutions to support strategic decision making.
  • Gathers and interprets rich data sets, solving challenging questions and communicating insights and findings to stakeholders.
  • Develops, designs, and implements new data relationships, applications, and system solutions.
  • Estimates the quantifiable characteristics of events or information and creates sampling plans. Develops instruments to estimate sizes, distances, and quantities for determining time, costs, resources, or materials required.
  • Identifies and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) and other metrics used to evaluate asset performance and effectiveness, and recommends the actions needed to improve or correct performance.
  • Oversees mission-critical Asset Management data warehouses and analytical systems, ensuring the quality, integrity, consistency, and availability of asset data.
  • Maintains appropriate staffing levels and reviews progress to ensure the quality and quantity of work meet standards and deadlines for deliverables to meet program goals and objectives.
  • Recruits staff to include interviewing, hiring, assigning work, training, coaching, and counseling to ensure consistent application of Employee Guidelines, processes, and procedures.
  • Conducts performance reviews and holds employees accountable for optimal performance of their responsibilities.
  • Fosters a safety-first culture, prioritizing prevention, accountability, and continuous improvement.
