This IC role builds intuitive dashboards and AI-powered data products that drive self-service and storytelling at scale. About WMUS People Strategy & Operations – Data Enablement The WMUS People Data Enablement team sits at the crossroads of people, operations, and tech—turning workforce data into strategy. We build predictive tools, AI-powered dashboards, and decision support that help Walmart hire, grow, and retain talent at scale. Our mission? Spot the signal before the noise—and give leaders the edge to act fast. More than reporting—this role shapes the story behind the data, helping leaders see the meaning, the impact, and the path forward.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in data analytics, BI, or people analytics within large, complex environments
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, BigQuery)
  • Proficient in BI tools like Power BI, Tableau, or similar
  • Experience with reporting automation and data processing tools (e.g., Alteryx, Dataiku, Python)
  • Familiarity with integrating AI features into reporting workflows
  • Understanding of how workforce data informs decisions across HR, Finance, and Operations
  • Skilled at translating complex data into trusted insights that support planning and decision-making
  • Ability to connect reporting outputs to business needs and identify misalignment early
  • Proven ability to simplify complex analysis for business audiences
  • Strong visual storytelling skills—turning dashboards into clear, useful narratives
  • Track record of helping stakeholders act with confidence on insights
  • Experience navigating matrixed, enterprise-scale organizations
  • Ability to influence without authority through clarity, partnership, and follow-through
  • Comfortable driving quality and consistency in ambiguous environments
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Computer Science, or related field and 2 years’ experience conducting mathematical or statistical research, analysis and modeling intelligence, corporate security, or related area OR 4 years’ experience conducting mathematical or statistical research, analysis and modeling intelligence, corporate security, or related area.

  • Experience with HR systems like Workday
  • Background in workforce planning, HR transformation, or financial headcount planning
  • Exposure to high-volume, operationally complex environments (e.g., retail, logistics, supply chain)
  • Business analysis and reporting, Microsoft Office, Statistical modeling software

Responsibilities

  • Design intuitive dashboards (Tableau, Power BI, GCP) that enable self-service, surface insights clearly, and embed trusted logic and context for consistency.
  • Transform complex data into clean, reliable reporting structures and partner with technical teams to improve automation, usability, and reporting efficiency.
  • Improve data reliability by standardizing definitions, resolving disconnects early, and supporting governance practices that build trust in the numbers.
  • Translate data into clear, compelling narratives through visualization and storytelling, helping stakeholders understand what matters and what to do next.
  • Leverage AI to scale insights through features like natural language summaries and anomaly detection, while ensuring clarity, speed, and stakeholder trust.
  • Build strong relationships across HR, Finance, and Operations by connecting reporting to business needs, aligning stakeholders, and supporting adoption through clarity.
