About The Position

As a Manager (or Senior Manager, depending on experience), Data & Analytics Insurance Finance Transformation, you will be a valued member of the RBC Insurance CFO team, acting as a data and analytics partner to drive insights and innovation across financial accounting, performance management, and planning and forecasting activities. You will lead the development and optimization of data-driven solutions for IFRS 17 compliance, including process automation, advanced analytics, and predictive modeling. Collaborating with IT, Actuarial, and Finance teams, you will identify opportunities to leverage data and technology to streamline processes, enhance decision-making, and ensure audit-ready solutions.

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or IT roles within finance, insurance, or actuarial domains.
  • Expertise in data modeling, ETL/ELT, and database design (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, data warehouses).
  • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python)
  • Hands-on experience with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI).
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Accounting, Business or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong understanding of financial processes, particularly IFRS 17, and ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Familiarity with actuarial systems, policy administration platforms, or finance data warehouses.
  • Experience with automation tools (e.g., Alteryx, UiPath) and modern data architectures (e.g., canonical models, real-time streaming).
  • Knowledge of insurance products (e.g., universal life, participating life, seg funds) and investment systems.
  • Certifications in data science, cloud computing, or analytics (e.g., AWS Certified Data Engineer, Google Professional Data Engineer).

Responsibilities

  • Analyze data defects across business processes, IT infrastructure, and actuarial or financial models (e.g., projected vs. actual cash flow variances). Identify underlying drivers, then design, test, and implement sustainable remediation solutions
  • Collaborate with Actuarial and Finance teams to define calculation logic, identify key drivers, and validate data sources for financial models (e.g., CSM, cash flow forecasting). Utilize Python and other tools to extract data, develop models, and automate workflows, ensuring solutions are accurate, auditable, and compliant.
  • Define technical requirements for integrating financial systems (GL, subledgers, actuarial platforms) with data ecosystems. Partner with IT to ensure real-time data flow, seamless reporting, and scalable infrastructure.
  • Identify efficiency opportunities through data-driven insights, working closely with Finance, Actuarial, and IT teams. Develop dashboards and visualization tools to support executive decision-making and stakeholder communication. Build scalable reporting solutions and dashboards to ensure data accessibility for cross-functional teams, reducing reliance on external consultants.
  • Ensure data solutions adhere to SOX and regulatory standards. Implement robust validation checks, audit trails, and documentation for models and systems.
