About The Position

Reporting to the Regional Lead, US Valuation Advisory, this role leads and grows the daily valuation services practice. The Manager will oversee client engagements, working with institutional real estate clients, appraisers, valuation teams, and internal stakeholders to support daily NAV calculations and share-price reporting. Key responsibilities include projecting net investment income and property value changes, coordinating valuation updates, overseeing material event analysis, investigating variances, and ensuring accurate client deliverables. The role also involves providing technical oversight, reviewing team work, and shaping processes and tools for scaling the service offering. This is a leadership opportunity at the intersection of commercial real estate valuation, accounting, financial analysis, and analytics, offering ownership of an evolving practice and the chance to become a subject matter expert.

Requirements

  • Strong accounting background and direct experience supporting NAV calculations or NAV reporting.
  • Understanding of how property performance, debt, valuations, and other financial inputs affect NAV and investment reporting.
  • Comfort interpreting complex financial information, assessing assumptions, identifying trends and variances, and developing projections and recommendations.
  • Strong Excel skills, including financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Ability to review and challenge financial analyses, projections, and valuation-related work.
  • Experience with accounting or financial systems and ability to interpret system-generated reports and financial data.
  • Ability to manage multiple client engagements, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously.
  • Comfort creating plans, evaluating results, identifying at-risk deliverables, managing budgets, and communicating proactively about changes.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with institutional clients, appraisers, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Comfort interpreting client requests, explaining complex information clearly, and coordinating work across multiple contributors.
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and works independently.
  • Comfort operating in an evolving environment where structure may need to be created.
  • Confidence to make recommendations, challenge existing approaches, and take ownership of practice growth.
  • University or college degree in accounting or a related field from an accredited institution.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with daily valuation, real estate fund accounting, valuation advisory, or commercial real estate valuation.
  • Experience with commercial real estate valuation, investment reporting, or financial reporting.
  • Experience with platforms such as Yardi, MRI, JD Edwards, or similar systems.
  • Curiosity about emerging technologies and how AI, automation, and other tools can improve existing processes.
  • A CPA would be preferred.
  • A certified general state license and/or MAI designation would be an asset.
  • Experience supervising, coaching, or mentoring team members is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily valuation and NAV calculations, overseeing the review of financial information, property values, debt positions, equity calculations, and working capital adjustments.
  • Project net investment income and changes in property values, ensuring assumptions and calculations are accurate and well-supported.
  • Own multiple daily valuation engagements, managing timelines, priorities, budgets, deliverables, and client expectations.
  • Ensure engagements are delivered accurately, on time, and in accordance with client requirements, proactively identifying and resolving risks and issues.
  • Coordinate with appraisers, clients, internal valuation teams, and stakeholders to incorporate updated property valuations.
  • Oversee the analysis of material events (e.g., new leases, bankruptcies) and determine their impact on valuation and NAV calculations.
  • Review projected results against actual outcomes, investigate material variances, and understand underlying drivers.
  • Provide technical review and quality oversight of team members' work, ensuring high standards of quality, accuracy, and technical excellence.
  • Directly manage one analyst initially, with potential for team growth.
  • Interpret client requests, understand business needs, and determine appropriate responses.
  • Communicate complex financial and valuation information clearly and coordinate requests across clients, appraisers, internal teams, and stakeholders.
  • Evaluate existing workflows, templates, and documentation to identify opportunities for standardization, automation, and improved efficiency.
  • Establish scalable processes and best practices for the growing Daily Valuation Services practice.
  • Explore emerging technologies, including AI, to reduce manual work, improve data and reporting processes, and increase scalability and quality.
  • Share expertise, coach and mentor colleagues, and establish knowledge-sharing practices, tools, and processes.
  • Contribute to the strategic development of Daily Valuation & NAV Accounting, identifying opportunities for service offering improvement, client delivery enhancement, and future business growth.
