About The Position

Capital One Canada is seeking a Manager, Credit Modeling & Analytics to lead the determination of optimal underwriting strategies. This role involves complex analysis using model outputs and insights to propose and gain buy-in for winning strategies from leadership. The position functions as a lead analyst, tackling the team's most complex problems and guiding junior analysts. Technically, the role requires leveraging coding and visualization tools, including SQL for data querying, Python for data organization, and presentation tools like Slides, Tableau, and Quicksight. The role applies strategic and analytical skills to major company challenges, developing and testing strategies that impact the bottom line in a collaborative environment that values insight, encourages responsibility, promotes continuous learning, and rewards innovation. This role is expected to evolve into a people leadership role, with participation in the Capital One Leads program focused on developing people leadership skills.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in business analysis, with an established history of leveraging analytical skills to effectively influence strategic decisions.
  • At least 1 year of experience in managing high impact projects.
  • Experience in technical analysis and coding, including presenting analytical information through slides and memos.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a quantitative field (Business, Math, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Science, Engineering).
  • At least 1 year of experience in people management.
  • 5+ years in credit, underwriting, and/or valuations with a basic understanding of credit card or other loan based underwriting.
  • Proficient in SQL, data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Quicksight), and Python for analysis and automation.
  • 2+ years experience in the consumer financial services industry.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead analyst in areas such as new applications or credit limit increases, overseeing the most complex analyses, performing them, and guiding junior analysts.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of analysts, providing coaching and removing barriers to grow future leaders.
  • Create and present recommendations to senior leadership, gain buy-in for strategies, and then implement, monitor, and improve them.
  • Determine the strategic roadmap for the area and collaborate across the underwriting and valuations team to lead change.
  • Utilize technical analytical skills (such as SQL and Python) to complete analysis.
