About The Position

The Manager, VNI Cost manages cost estimates for LA28 Venue Infrastructure and oversees the financial aspects of the change process in preparation for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Reporting to the Director, Cost and Procurement, this role works with LA28 and VNI stakeholders to manage budgets, costs, and commodity packages across competition and non-competition venues. The manager tracks costs against budgets and forecasts, identifies variances and risks, and partners with Procurement so cost estimates support packaging, bid evaluation, and award decisions.

The role is based onsite in LA28’s Downtown Los Angeles office. Most work takes place in an office setting and involves extended use of computers, phones, and other office equipment. The office has an open-floorplan environment. Hours may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, particularly during peak event periods. The role may evolve and include operational responsibilities during the Olympic and Paralympic Games. LA28 does not provide relocation assistance.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in construction or commercial real estate cost management.
• Experience preparing and managing cost estimates for construction, infrastructure, or real estate projects of significant scale.
• Experience managing the financial side of change processes, including evaluating, negotiating, and tracking change orders.
• Experience managing budgets and costs with multiple internal and external stakeholders, including contractors and suppliers.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, including the ability to explain cost impacts clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
• Available to work onsite in LA28’s Downtown Los Angeles-based office.

Nice To Haves

• Events experience, including live or major sporting events.
• Understanding of event commodities and how they are typically priced.
• Experience working alongside procurement and contracts teams on bids.
• Experience with temporary or overlay infrastructure costs for events.

Responsibilities

• Manage and update cost estimates for Venue Infrastructure scope as venue designs evolve.
• Manage the financial aspects of the change process, assessing, tracking, and reporting the cost impact of proposed changes.
• Work with LA28 and VNI stakeholders to manage budgets, costs, and commodity packages across competition and non-competition venues.
• Track costs against budgets and forecasts, and flag variances and cost risks early to VNI and Cost and Procurement leadership.
• Partner with Procurement so cost estimates inform commodity packaging, bid evaluation, and award decisions.
• Perform other duties as required, which may include operational responsibilities during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
