About The Position

Amplitude's Corporate Accounting team is central to ensuring accurate, scalable, and insight-driven financial operations as the company continues to grow. This role is for a player-coach Accounting Manager to join the San Francisco-based controllership team, balancing hands-on execution with driving smarter, faster processes. The position will be key in modernizing the close process, including embedding AI into core accounting workflows. The ideal candidate enjoys executing tasks while also building future processes.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including a mix of public accounting and industry experience (ideally in SaaS or tech).
  • Strong foundation in US GAAP and ability to apply it practically in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience owning close processes and working with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred).
  • Comfortable working in a SOX-compliant environment and understanding the importance of strong internal controls.

Responsibilities

  • Own and run the full close cycle across the general ledger—including journal entries, consolidations, intercompany, reconciliations, and flux analysis—while continuously improving the speed, accuracy, and predictability of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
  • Strengthen and scale accounting policies, processes, and internal controls to support a public company environment, ensuring compliance while building a foundation that can keep up with company growth.
  • Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Tax, Legal, and AP to drive a seamless close process, proactively resolve issues, and ensure financial data aligns with broader business objectives.
  • Lead audit readiness and execution end-to-end, managing external auditors, owning the PBC process, and ensuring deliverables are organized, timely, and audit-ready.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to automate and accelerate accounting workflows—including embedding AI into routine processes—to improve efficiency, reduce manual work, and increase overall data reliability.
