About The Position

The Manager, Core Accounting is responsible for overseeing and coordinating core accounting operations that drive a timely, accurate, and well-controlled financial close. This role leads and develops an accounting team, manages close execution, journal entry review, reconciliations, and preliminary financial reviews while ensuring consistency, transparency, and adherence to accounting policies. The Manager, Core Accounting leads close process monitoring across centers of excellence and drives continuous improvement in accounting operations through coaching, standardization, and process optimization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; equivalent years of experience
  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive accounting, reporting, audit, or finance experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting
  • Experience with financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow)
  • Strong knowledge of journal entries, accruals, reconciliations or reporting schedules and tie-outs (depending on COE)
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting systems
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to set expectations, manage priorities, and support team success

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee end to end month end close execution, including timelines and deliverables. Review and approve journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Ensure spending down and accrual processes are applied consistently and accurately.
  • Review preliminary financial results and account variance explanations.
  • Monitor close progress across other accounting centers of excellence and resolve issues or delays.
  • Oversee entity level accounting and ensure proper ownership and documentation.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives related to close efficiency and reconciliation quality.
  • Establish and enforce GAAP, accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls, ensuring consistency and compliance across the team.
  • Support audit and compliance activities, coordinating team responses and ensuring documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Responsible for the effective management and leadership of a team. This includes, but is not limited to hiring, training, coaching, evaluating and managing performance, allocating compensation, effectively handling employee relations issues, and managing terminations.
