CED administers the Opportunity Calgary Investment Fund (OCIF), a wholly-owned subsidiary of The City of Calgary created in 2018 as a catalyst to attract investment, drive innovation, and spur transformative economic development in the city. OCIF has made a wide range of public and private investments that drive economic growth, job creation, and ecosystem development, positioning Calgary to lead digital transformation across our key sectors. The Manager, Communications will be responsible for planning and executing communications and media relations plans and developing content for the OCIF brand. This strategic role involves working closely with the OCIF team to be its primary storyteller. Functional responsibilities include developing communications and media relations plans, writing and editing content across various channels for internal and external audiences, and providing media relations and event support. The Manager, Communications will act as a conduit between CED’s communications team and the OCIF team to ensure OCIF’s business objectives are met with strategic communications and uphold both the OCIF and CED brands and reputation. This role requires superior writing and communications skills, an understanding of the economy and political environment, and emotional intelligence. Note: This position is a fixed term 16-month cover.
