Reporting to the Senior Director, Commodity Tax, the successful candidate will be responsible for all commodity tax issues relating to external audits, advisory functions as systems related requirements. In addition, when presented with deficiencies relating to systems, business practices, or tax reporting requirements, candidate must be able to analyse thoroughly situation and determine best course of action taking into consideration best practices, cost, and legislation. Candidate is to be able to analyze, review and research sales tax legislation relating to business activities of Rogers group of companies with view to ensure tax compliance and to measure economic impact of existing tax laws on businesses. Candidate is to become indirect tax expert within a large group of tax practitioners.

Requirements

  • CPA who has successfully completed CPA GST/HST in-depth tax course
  • 5 to 7 years experience in an advisory role within the industry or CPA or tax recovery firms
  • Ability to read and understand interpretation process of tax legislation
  • Great communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Possess a good level of GST/HST/QST and PST (5 to 10 years) while working full time in such environment in a large corporation or within a CPA or tax recovery firm in order to be able to advise internally various business groups with the Rogers corporate group operations
  • Minimize tax liability relating to third party audits
  • Master rapidly a high level of understanding of Rogers corporate group operations and provide timely advice to minimize tax liabilities and optimize tax recovery opportunities
  • Ability to provide creative solutions to get the job done
