About The Position

Agile Underwriting Solutions (Agile) has an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Commercial Underwriting leading our Ontario Region. This is a remote based position, open to candidates in the Greater Toronto Area. We are seeking an experienced underwriting professional with strong leadership skills and a proven ability to manage teams, broker relationships, and underwriting performance. As Manager, Commercial Underwriting, you’ll shape the success of our Ontario operations by leading, developing, and empowering a team of underwriters while driving strong broker relationships and profitable results. In this role, you’ll influence key decisions, optimize processes, and help build a high-performing, future-ready team.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of underwriting experience, including at least 2 years in a people management role
  • CIP or FCIP designation required
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills
  • Solid business acumen with a deep understanding of underwriting performance drivers
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a solution-based approach to client service
  • Strong organizational skills, accountability, and attention to detail
  • Proven ability to lead teams through high-growth, evolving environments, driving transformation while delivering strong underwriting results and profitable growth

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and develop the underwriting team to deliver strong client service, satisfaction, and retention
  • Oversee sales and underwriting performance, including renewal retention, rate adequacy, cross-selling, and upselling
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators to drive profitability and operational success
  • Lead regular team meetings and ensure execution of key initiatives and action items
  • Support claims resolution and collaborate with internal stakeholders on complex or escalated issues
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance processes and efficiency
  • Lead employee attraction, engagement, retention, and development to build a high-performing team
  • Support organizational change initiatives and promote adaptability across the team
