About The Position

UTHealth Houston's Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging department is hiring a PRN Manager, Clinical Radiology! The Neuroradiology section comprises 13 trained Neuroradiologists who are subspecialized in vascular, tumor, head and neck, pediatric, spine, and movement disorders. Our mission is “To collaborate and cultivate as a team and be committed to providing advanced knowledge through education. We offer Neuroradiology interventional procedures, advanced imaging through our Center of Advanced Imaging Processing (CAIP), clinical research, and medical education to trainees (residents, fellows, and medical students) and have an ACGME-accredited fellowship program that offers 4 fellowship slots every year. We stand to provide the best patient care to support the overall standard of care for McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, Memorial Hermann, and Harris Health Hospital System. Requirements

  • Must be clinically competent with CT, Diagnostic X-Ray and EOS
  • Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) by Texas Medical Board (TMB) required
  • Radiography (R) by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) by American Heart Association (AHA) required
  • Associate's Degree in Radiography, Clinical Radiation Science or related field required
  • 5 years of directly related experience required
  • Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with WBCT preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepares radiology staff schedule to ensure that all modalities are adequately covered to meet patient volume needs.
  • Works with ordering/referring physicians to establish protocols for diagnostic procedures; ensures that diagnostic procedures performed produce images of acceptable diagnostic quality in accordance with protocols and parameters set by the department or radiologist.
  • Responsible for overseeing the department Radiation Safety Program in conjunction with Radiation Physicist and coordinates necessary inspections in accordance with Federal, State and local regulations.
  • Coordinates and oversees the effective functioning of the department's information system and connectivity, PACS system and image processing system.
  • Schedules required and preventative maintenance on imaging equipment to ensure that equipment is properly calibrated and maintained.
  • Assists with oversight of Federal, State, and local regulations related to imaging and ensures compliance.
  • Works with the staff to insure professional development including cross-training opportunities.
  • Assures new staff complete department orientation, maintains documentation of orientation, completed skills checklists and in-service training attended.
  • Provides technical back up within the department to ensure effective workflow.
  • Monitors imaging expenses and budget allocations to ensure effective operational performance.
  • Oversees and monitors all aspects of patient safety specifically related to radiation protection.
  • Ensures that the imaging department is maintained in a clean, organized manner.
  • Serves as a resource to hospital staff and management on all imaging related issues.
  • Manages Human Resources activities of department in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
