About The Position

Manager Clinical Pharmacy- Lung Transplant NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, a premier academic medical center affiliated with Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons, delivers exceptional, patient-centered care. Within this leading transplant program, the Clinical Pharmacy Manager partners closely with the lung transplant team to provide advanced clinical pharmacy services, including participation in multidisciplinary rounds, transplant selection meetings, and patient education. Requirements

  • Completion of a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy degree or PharmD
  • New York State Pharmacy License or eligibility to obtain license within 3 months

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a liaison relationship with the Service covered through participation in patient care rounds and involvement in joint projects with the Department/Division/Service covered.
  • Identification of problems/issues in specific patients and promotion of rational drug use on a case-by-case basis (includes therapy selection, monitoring and assessment of outcomes of therapy).
  • Provision of drug information to providers covering the service and the patients covered by the Service(s) identified.
  • Adverse Drug Reaction Reporting for patients on service.
  • Develops, implements, manages and reports results pertinent to continuous quality improvement and expense reduction programs related to the patients serviced.
  • Acts as secretary or member of multidisciplinary committee(s) of medical staff, charged by the Formulary and Therapeutics Committee or other Medical Board Subcommittee, which oversees, develops, implements and manages policies for the care delivered to the patients serviced.
  • Provides training and educational programs for undergraduate and graduate pharmacy students, universities, and health care providers at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.
  • Assists in the process of budget forecasting for pharmaceuticals based upon a knowledge base of ongoing research for new drugs and indications and trending of current consumption.
  • Develops and delivers educational programs for patients cared for at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.
  • Performs research in areas of interest, especially those which parallel departmental goals and objectives, and submits manuscripts for publication and/or presentation at local, state and/or national meetings.
  • Participates in supervisory functions for pharmacy staff including: Interviews candidates for pharmacy management and staff positions.
  • Recommends corrective action for pharmacy staff for supervisor implementation.
  • Contributes to and administers, when applicable, performance evaluations for staff.
  • Provides guidance related to pharmacotherapy decisions.
  • Performs all duties inherent to managerial role.
  • Participates in hiring, training, evaluation and termination of assigned staff according to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.
