About The Position

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position for a Manager of Clinical Operations (RN) in the Medical/Surgical unit at Advocate Christ Medical Center. The role involves planning, management, implementation, and evaluation of operations and services to ensure quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. The position requires 24/7 manager responsibility and offers a variable day shift schedule. Intensive Care experience is preferred.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) and Master's Degree in any field OR Bachelor's Degree in any field with a Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) required.
  • 2+ years of previous management experience focused in an intensive care setting.
  • 4+ years of clinical RN experience with 2 years in intensive care.
  • Organizational, planning, and delegation skills.
  • Team Building skills.
  • Communication skills.
  • Demonstrates leadership attributes.
  • Results oriented with concern for appropriate process.
  • CPR certification.
  • Professional Registered Nurse in the state of IL.

Nice To Haves

  • Intensive Care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in short and long-term planning, analyzing and planning for the needs of the area.
  • Establishes staffing requirements and plans for the appropriate utilization of human resources.
  • Monitors quality of patient care and patient satisfaction, overseeing the implementation of measures to improve both.
  • Facilitates care delivery in conjunction with the patient-focused model.
  • Supports and facilitates case management practice in conjunction with hospital protocols.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient operations consistent with hospital and Advocate Health Care philosophy, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory agency standards (federal, state, city, Accrediting Organization, IDPH) and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Promotes patient safety by reporting issues through established channels and participating in safety initiatives.
  • Develops and incorporates Performance Improvement projects.
  • Ensures that standards of practice are developed, implemented, and evaluated in conjunction with monitoring and evaluation activities within the area.
  • Conducts special projects and studies related to area activities, goals, or objectives.
  • Assumes 24-hour responsibility for assigned areas of operation and divisional coverage as necessary.
  • Plans and administers an annual budget, monitors budgetary expenditures, and reports/justifies variances.
  • Ensures efficient utilization of staff and supplies.
  • Identifies inventory levels and costs of supplies.
  • Develops new and expanding program proposals with cost/budget implications.
  • Completes forecasting for upcoming and long-term budgets.
  • Develops major equipment purchase proposals.
  • Assists with the development of feasibility studies.
  • Responsible for the selection, development, motivation, and evaluation of staff.
  • Recruits, selects, mentors, and motivates direct reports.
  • Ensures timely completion of staff evaluations and performance reviews.
  • Coordinates recruitment activities and facilitates retention strategies.
  • Assesses educational needs of staff and facilitates educational opportunities.
  • Assists individuals with identifying and achieving professional goals.
  • Ensures an adequate orientation program for staff.
  • Implements and coordinates disciplinary procedures.
  • Monitors and facilitates the resolution of performance and/or employee relations issues.
  • Facilitates staff meetings relating to unit, divisional, hospital, and corporate activities.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with internal and external contacts.
  • Collaborates with physicians, management, and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality care and patient satisfaction.
  • Actively participates in hospital committees and projects.
  • Networks with peers to ensure administrative and clinical standards integrate with department and hospital services.
  • Networks with professionals at other healthcare facilities for clinical standards.
  • Coordinates activities with various hospital departments to ensure patient satisfaction and cost-effectiveness.
  • Responsible for personal and professional growth and development.
  • Completes required contact hours based on FTE status.
  • Stays abreast of current standards of care via literature, educational events, and networking.
  • Maintains memberships in professional and community organizations.
  • Participates in activities to enhance professional growth.
