About The Position

As a senior-level clinical leader with 5–8 years of specialized experience, the Manager of Clinical Informatics serves as a strategic architect between IT and clinical practice. This role is responsible for the full lifecycle of Clinical Information Systems (CIS), from high-level design to large-scale implementation. The Manager leverages deep clinical expertise and advanced technical knowledge to lead a team of informaticists, ensuring technology serves as a catalyst for patient safety, operational efficiency, and regulatory excellence.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Informatics, Information Technology, or a related field required
• Bachelors or Masters - 6-9 years in clinical informatics, healthcare operations, or health information technology
• BSN/MSN - 7 years of Clinical Informatics Experience
• 1-2 years of experience in a leadership role
• 1-3 years of experience advising executive leadership and participating in organizational governance structures
• Master level understanding of clinical workflows and organizational operations across multiple care settings.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence senior and executive leadership.
• Expert ability to develop enterprise strategies for workflow, testing, and Validation.
• Strong command of change management frameworks and enterprise-level implementation methods.
• Advanced analytical skills to drive long term performance improvements
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results independently.
• Ability to identify and address complex organizational issues with minimal guidance.
• Highly skilled in building cross functional alignment across departments, service lines, and leadership groups.
• Strategic thinking and the ability to translate organizational goals into workflow and system recommendations.
• Recognized subject matter authority in clinical informatics principles and best practices.

Nice To Haves

• Master's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Informatics, Information Technology, or a related field strongly preferred
• A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
• Certification in Clinical Informatics (e.g., ANCC Informatics Nursing Certification, CAHIMS/CPHIMS)
• Oracle Health Cerner Preferred

Responsibilities

• Directly supervises and mentors a team of Clinical Informaticists, including performance management, goal setting, professional development, and succession planning.
• Allocates resources effectively to support enterprise priorities, large initiatives, and sustained optimization efforts.
• Contributes to workforce planning by identifying capability gaps, emerging skill needs, and role evolution within Clinical Informatics.
• Establishes and maintains enterprise standards for clinical workflows, build design, testing methodologies, validation processes, and system readiness.
• Provides expert informatics consultation to executive leadership, clinical councils, and governance bodies regarding clinical, operational, and safety impacts.
• Facilitates high-stakes decision-making by evaluating enterprise-level risks, dependencies, and downstream impacts of clinical system changes.
• Drives long-term optimization strategies using performance metrics, outcome data, and national best practices.
• Leverages data analytics to monitor the adoption and clinical impact of healthcare informatics solutions.
• Leads continuous improvement efforts to reduce variation, improve clinician experience, and enhance care delivery efficiency.
• Drives organizational excellence by providing SME support for CI-led initiatives, coordinating with diverse teams to translate complex clinical and regulatory needs into cohesive operational workflows.
• Serves as a primary liaison between clinical stakeholders and IT partners, ensuring clinical needs are accurately translated into technical solutions.
• Communicates effectively across executive, clinical, and technical audiences to align expectations, timelines, and outcomes.
• Serves as a change agent, supporting departmental shifts during technology implementations while maintaining clinician trust and engagement.
• Supports enterprise digital strategy by aligning informatics initiatives with organizational priorities, safety goals, and operational excellence frameworks.
• Represents Clinical Informatics in enterprise forums, vendor engagements, and strategic planning activities as delegated.
