About The Position

The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking candidates to fill the position of Manager, Child Support Services. This position will report to the Regional Director and is located in Decatur, GA (Dekalb County). DCSS is the division within DHS that enhances the well-being of children by locating non-custodial parents; establishing paternity and support orders; enforcing and modifying support obligations; and collecting and distributing child support payments. This program promotes parent accountability and self-sufficiency while reducing the public responsibility for providing financial and medical support to children. DCSS also administers several outreach programs to include but not limited to Fatherhood, Prison Re-Entry and Parental Accountability Court. All of these outreach initiatives are devoted to increasing non-custodial parental involvement in the child's life.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of job-related subordinate supervisory experience in a human service delivery program or related program
  • Two (2) years of experience at the lower level Child Support Svcs Agent Spv (SST064) or position equivalent
  • Four (4) years of experience at the lower level Child Support Svcs Agent 3 (SST062)
  • Three (3) years of experience at the lower level Child Support Svcs Agent 4 (SST063)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of subordinate supervisory experience in a human service delivery program or related program -or- Two (2) years of experience at the lower-level Child Support Services Supervisor (SST064) or position equivalent; -or- Four (4) years of experience at the lower-level Child Support Services Agent 3 (SST062); -or- Three (3) years of experience at the lower-level Child Support Services Agent 4 (SST063).

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes and assesses the effectiveness of existing programs to ensure the identified outcome measures are achieved.
  • Assures agency compliance with policies, appropriate documentation, and reporting requirements.
  • Builds and encourages a cooperative team-oriented environment within unit(s) and with other agencies and providers.
  • Creates and maintains positive working relationships within the community and on the county DFCS Board.
  • Develop and administer budgets.
  • Facilitates communication within the unit(s)/agency on a specific case level as well as on a procedure/policy level.
  • Interviews, hires, directs, trains, evaluate the performance of, and when necessary, disciplines and discharges social services employees.
  • Leads and administers a comprehensive system of public assistance, employability, and social services.
  • Manages human resources and directs administrative activities for groups of social services employees.
  • Plans, administers, and maintains the operation of social service programs.
  • Reviews new and current programs to determine their efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with state, local and federal regulations.
  • Performs other professional responsibilities as assigned.
