About The Position

Baker Tilly is seeking a Manager to join their growing Financial Advisory Services (FAS) practice. This role is crucial in helping the firm achieve its vision of becoming the leading middle market advisory firm. The FAS team assists CFOs, Controllers, and Finance Directors in improving financial reporting processes, enabling finance organizations to add value to business operations and achieve significant, sustainable performance through technical analysis and process improvement. Clients range from emerging growth companies to publicly traded companies across financial service sectors. The team comprises practitioners nationwide with diverse multi-disciplines and experiences, including former Chief Financial Officers, Controllers, financial statement auditors, and financial analysts. The practice focuses on solving problems and making improvements to free up finance organizations to concentrate on growing and enhancing their overall business.

Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience in a large accounting firm in audit or financial advisory services within the financial services industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Knowledge and ability to use appropriate tools, applications, and accounting and finance concepts to facilitate analysis.
  • Current US GAAP and/or IFRS advisory knowledge and application.
  • High motivation, initiative, and positive attitude.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to multitask and handle multiple priorities appropriately.
  • Advanced modeling and Excel skills, experience conducting complex quantitative and qualitative financial analysis, and ability to generate data-driven insights.
  • Ability to work autonomously, meet tight deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, experience presenting analyses to management, and ability to lead and drive initiatives.
  • Ability to work effectively and thrive in a team environment with all levels of client personnel in various industries.
  • Ability to comfortably interact with senior-level client personnel, including supporting the preparation of and participating in executive briefings.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CMA preferred.
  • Skills with Power BI and/or Tableau are a plus.
  • Exposure to Middle Market financial suite of applications, such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, IntAcct, etc., their functionality, workflows, automated controls, and associated facilitation of data consolidation, reporting, and robust analytics and their relationship to addressing myriad business requirements.
  • Versatile people with the ability to take on new responsibilities and listen to clients to get things done.
  • Broader controllership and operational experience including finance transformation.
  • Genuinely interesting people with the ability to build relationships, negotiate and think in unique and creative ways.
  • Confident leader with a curious mind and the ability to solve complex issues.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in projects focused on US GAAP Advisory, Business Analytics and Decision Support, Financial Accounting Advisory Services, Transaction Support, Finance transformation, and Program/Project Management in the financial services sector.
  • Supervise, develop, and train staff on engagements.
  • Participate actively in project work, demonstrating a hands-on approach.
  • Interact directly with senior managers and partners on client and engagement management matters.
  • Strengthen existing client relationships and develop new business opportunities by providing outstanding client service and expanding the firm's footprint across functional areas at clients.
  • Communicate with business owners, executive management, investors, lenders, and other sophisticated parties to ensure exceptional client service delivery.
  • Be accessible and anticipate client needs, questions, and issues.
  • Invest in professional development through active participation in training sessions and networking events.
  • Assist with recruiting activities, including campus recruiting and referring experienced individuals.
  • Contribute to the firm's efforts to attract, retain, and develop staff and seniors, acting as a mentor.
  • Demonstrate excellent team skills, a positive attitude, and high ethical standards.
  • Lead by example to positively impact employee morale and help build and maintain an inclusive culture.
  • Set and achieve challenging profitability, billing, and collection objectives, considering engagement circumstances, staff utilization, and risk management.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with colleagues and engagement/project teams.
  • Regularly identify opportunities, recommendations, and additional firm services that could benefit clients.
