About The Position

As a member of the Surgical Services Leadership Team, the Manager of Sterile Processing is responsible for the overall leadership, organization, and management of department operations for the assigned area across all hours of operation. This role ensures the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies, programs, and services that align with the organization’s mission, goals, and regulatory requirements, including compliance with DNV and all state and federal standards. The leader oversees daily operations, including management of human, material, and financial resources, to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care and service delivery. Responsibilities include establishing and enforcing policies and procedures related to sterilization processes, infection prevention, safety protocols, and clinical care standards. In collaboration with the Director, this role ensures effective resource utilization and operational performance. Working closely with surgical teams, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary departments, the leader ensures the timely availability of sterile instruments, appropriate staffing, and a supportive care environment that promotes an optimal patient experience. This role is responsible for quality and performance improvement initiatives, ensuring continuous evaluation and enhancement of operational outcomes. The leader maintains clinical competence and serves as a resource and subject matter expert for staff.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Certification (IAHCSMM- Certification in Healthcare Leadership or CBSPD management certification) within one year of employment.
  • 5 years of sterile processing with progressive leadership
  • Able to work under stressful and changing situations.
  • Excellent communication both written and verbal.
  • Unit and annual competencies to be completed each year.
  • Annual education required per hospital certification(s).
  • Regulatory requirements for accreditation.
  • Departmental policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in use of department-related software such as SPM.
  • Knowledge of AAMI standards.
