About The Position

The responsibility of the Merchandise Marketing Manager is to serve as chief marketing officer for a merchandise department. This position is responsible for developing meaningful and lasting business positioning for each merchandising department, as well as annual, quarterly and monthly marketing plans. Analyzes industry trends, media results and business environment to improve strategies and plan recommendations. The position will be required to manage both strategic and tactical execution of marketing programs and drive their integration throughout the company. The position serves as primary liaison between Merchandising leaders and all Marketing cross-functional departments.

Requirements

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
  • 4+ years relevant experience (i.e. marketing experience at a retail company, advertising agency, or consulting firm)
  • Experience in retail brand or consumer product marketing
  • Experience managing projects and working with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Experience with SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to triage needs across multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to interpret financial information and make data-driven decisions to support strategic priorities
  • Highly organized and able to define & sequence strategic priorities
  • Knowledge of consumer & product market research, market segmentation, and competitive intelligence/analysis
  • A data-driven mindset and ability to leverage analysis to make business recommendations
  • Familiarity with integrated marketing plans and creative asset briefs
  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Responsibilities

  • Develop annual, quarterly and monthly strategic and tactical marketing plans for merchandising departments based on competitive analysis, consumer input, financial data, and creative tactics. Outcome to be relevant promotions, customer value propositions, innovative product, industry leadership, and communication of such both internally and externally. Involves leading monthly marketing meetings with merchandise departments and varying cross-functional teams.
  • Take lead with marketing peers to integrate merchandising within the organization, such as Orange Apron Media, CRM, Brand & Capabilities, Audience Marketing, Public Relations, Events, etc. Accountable for ensuring accurate communication to both internal partners and external consumers.
  • Manage execution of tactical elements of marketing programs, including prioritizing promotions, working collaboratively with advertising creative team, reviewing priority channel creative and department representation throughout company marketing efforts, as well as triage execution of emerging priority opportunities across Orange Apron Media supplier partnership.
  • Manage budget deployment tracking across departments & provide final department approval on strategic plans for cross-functional marketing activities.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with merchandise vendors. The goals of these relationships are to establish department sales-driving opportunities with Orange Apron Media partners for vendor funded marketing projects and provide unique partnership opportunities for incremental sales negotiations through Orange Apron Media.
