About The Position

Hightower's Fixed Income Trading team is responsible for executing and supporting investment strategies across municipal, taxable, and other fixed income sectors. The team partners closely with advisors, portfolio managers, investment strategists, operations, compliance, and technology teams to deliver efficient trade execution and exceptional client outcomes. Reporting to the Executive Director of FI Trading, you will lead key trading initiatives and help oversee the day-to-day activities of the fixed income trading activities. This role combines hands-on trading responsibilities with leadership of day-to-day trading operations, team development, process improvement initiatives, and strategic projects designed to enhance execution quality and scalability. The ideal candidate brings deep fixed income markets expertise, strong leadership skills, and a proven ability to drive performance while developing and mentoring team members in a collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field
  • 5+ years of fixed income trading experience, preferably within an institutional investment management, RIA, broker-dealer, or asset management environment.
  • Strong knowledge of municipal bonds, taxable fixed income products, and fixed income market structure
  • Proficiency in using trading platforms, order management systems, and related technologies.
  • Strong understanding of investment advisory and broker-dealer operations, including fixed income trading activities, regulatory obligations, compliance requirements, and best execution practices.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying informed on industry trends, market developments, and regulatory changes
  • Stay abreast of industry developments, regulatory changes, and emerging market trends, actively participating in professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills
  • You are a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident or possess other unrestricted U.S. work authorization and will not require sponsorship for U.S. work authorization now or anytime in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and oversee fixed income trades across municipal, corporate, agency, Treasury, and taxable fixed income markets, in accordance with established guidelines, ensuring fair, accurate, and timely execution and settlement, while adhering to pre-established risk management and compliance guidelines
  • Evaluate and optimize trading platforms, order management systems, and other relevant technologies to execute trades efficiently and effectively
  • Support portfolio managers and investment teams in implementing investment strategies through effective trade execution.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching and development to traders and trading support personnel
  • Serve as a resource and mentor to junior team members while promoting professional growth and trading excellence
  • Monitor and manage trading activity to ensure compliance with risk parameters and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure adherence to trading policies, compliance requirements, and best execution practices.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive trade records, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulatory frameworks
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of market conditions, trends, and economic indicators to identify trading opportunities and mitigate potential risks
  • Analyze market data, dealer offerings, and inventory opportunities to identify trading ideas.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, counterparties, and internal stakeholders to optimize trading execution and access to liquidity
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including research analysts, risk managers, compliance officers, and operations professionals, to facilitate seamless trade execution and resolve any issues that may arise
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and oversight to members of the trading team to ensure execution excellence and adherence to firm standards
