About The Position

Our client is a high-profile boutique advisory firm located in Melbourne's CBD, servicing complex local and international client groups across accounting, tax, wealth and lending. The firm is known for quality over volume, sophisticated client work and direct Partner access. With continued growth and expanding engagements, they are seeking an experienced Manager to take ownership of a significant client portfolio and play a key leadership role within the practice. This is not a workflow-only management position. It is a leadership role with real portfolio ownership and strategic input. You will manage a portfolio of approximately $750k in annual fees, oversee a team of accountants (supported locally and offshore) and work directly with Partners on advisory, tax planning and complex structuring engagements. This role is suited to someone ready to operate at a strategic level, not just a technical one.

Requirements

  • CA or CPA qualified
  • Strong public practice experience within business services and tax
  • Demonstrated experience managing a client portfolio
  • Proven leadership and mentoring capability
  • Confident in advisory conversations and complex technical matters
  • Commercially minded with strong communication skills
  • Ambition to progress into Senior Manager or Director pathways

Responsibilities

  • Managing and taking accountability for a $750k client portfolio
  • Reviewing financial statements, tax returns and complex compliance work
  • Leading tax planning, structuring and advisory engagements
  • Acting as primary relationship manager for key clients
  • Delegating and reviewing work across local and offshore teams
  • Managing workflow, budgets and client expectations
  • Identifying cross-service opportunities across wealth and lending divisions
  • Contributing to leadership discussions and firm growth initiatives
