About The Position

The Manager, Business Development drives growth for Walmart Specialty Pharmacy through strategic partnerships with health plans, PBMs, employers, and other healthcare stakeholders. This role identifies, develops, and advances new business opportunities from prospecting through contracting and implementation, using data-driven insights, pricing strategies, and compelling value propositions. The manager collaborates across operations, analytics, finance, legal, and contracting teams to develop business cases, negotiate agreements, and expand market opportunities. Success requires strong analytical skills, managed care expertise, understanding of pharmacy and medical benefits, and the ability to independently influence stakeholders and drive results.

Requirements

  • Proven success developing and advancing new business opportunities with health plans, PBMs, employers, or other healthcare stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of managed care, including pharmacy and medical benefit structures, reimbursement, and contracting dynamics.
  • Experience developing pricing strategies, business cases, and financial analyses to support growth opportunities and decision-making.
  • Ability to build relationships and effectively communicate healthcare value propositions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, proactively remove barriers, and drive opportunities from prospecting through implementation.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing stakeholders.
  • Self-starter mindset with strong accountability, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Marketing, or related field and 2 years’ experience in business development, market development, product development, or related area OR 4 years’ experience in business development, market development, product development, or related area.

  • Lead new business opportunities from prospecting through contracting and implementation, leveraging data-driven insights, pricing strategies, and compelling value propositions.
  • Develop business cases, conduct financial and market analyses, and collaborate cross-functionally to evaluate opportunities and accelerate growth.
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships, negotiate agreements, and independently move opportunities forward while navigating complex stakeholder environments.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
