About The Position

The Manager, Business Development and Strategy has oversight and responsibility for promoting all business development units’ strategic initiatives. This includes aligning with each Director to develop a strategic vision and mission, setting objectives, crafting tactics to achieve those objectives, implementing, and executing the tactics, and evaluating and measuring performance. This Manager will also chair the Due Diligence Committee, responsible for conducting research, feasibility studies, executing product development assessments, gate reviews, development of Executive summaries and recommendations. Additionally, the Manager, Business Development and Strategy will have responsibility for the coordination and finalization of board and organizational updates and conducting performance improvement initiatives to ensure the business development teams are positioned for success.

Requirements

  • College Degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • Extensive working knowledge of the healthcare and managed care industries

Responsibilities

  • Development and promotion for both short-term (annual) and long-term (5 year) department strategic plans for all business development units: Marketing, Health Care Strategy, Sales, Account Management.
  • Ongoing performance tracking and reporting against department plans to ensure objectives are being met; to include monthly checkpoint meetings with each Director throughout the year.
  • Conduct ongoing Competitor Market Assessments to assure understanding of competitor strengths and weaknesses, product offerings, HPI differentiators and relative competitive position.
  • Provide strategic assistance to Health Care AM Group to develop relevant strategies that strengthen support for Health Care Clients.
  • Provide strategic alignment and promotion for Value Based Initiatives being deployed to Clients.
  • Compiling and analyzing market data and the incorporation of other data sources (internal and external) in the development process and implementation of strategic plans, new business, and reporting.
  • Promote the development of company business plans and market segmentation, including market analysis in conjunction with Marketing and Communications.
  • Chairs Due Diligence Committee which is charged with providing a cross-functional assessment and feasibility study with recommendation to HPI Executive Team as well as providing feedback on product assessments to enterprise consultant partners.
  • Conduct research on any competing products to assess and recommend needed additions to HPI product portfolio; includes conducting vendor demos, feasibility studies for new product implementations.
  • Lead the consolidation of research, authorship of key findings, and communication of progress to key departments across the organization including Executive Leadership.
  • Promotion of value story development and discussions to ensure all HPI differentiators are being realized and highlighted in marketing materials.
  • Participate in review of all market RFPs to ensure all HPI differentiators are being realized and highlighted.
  • Provide deliverables to VP, Business Development & Networks for all board preparation and materials.
  • Provide deliverables to VP, Business Development & Networks for all organizational updates to other HPI teams regarding business development and sales progress/outcomes.
  • Manage and track performance improvement initiatives within each business development team providing subject matter expertise for the performance improvement processes and deliverables.
  • Development and coordination of gate review discipline when implementing new products assuring all are relevant.
  • Serve as a network liaison (subject matter expert) in client implementations related to complex network configuration and adequacy.
  • Assigned to Secure Health relationship to nurture, coordinate and promote business development needs post-implementation.
  • Develop and continually evaluate processes, systems and explicit measurements that ensure timely and accurate execution of objectives, as well as ensuring maximum effectiveness wherever possible.
  • Lead Service Recovery review, tracking, reporting and communications to assure visibility for HPI leadership.
  • Direct involvement on critical issues that need resolution paying particular attention to those issues that are external facing and have impact to HPI clients.
  • Responsible for ongoing communication to VP, Business Development & Networks about key projects, goals, challenges, and barriers to assure timely and effective issues escalation.
  • Management of direct reports to include goal setting, definition of objectives, assignment of projects, appropriate follow-up to ensure desired progress and results, performance management and evaluations.
  • Model the principles of servant leadership which empowers staff, puts the needs of others first and helps staff develop and perform as effectively as possible.
  • Responsible for hiring, developing, training, mentoring, and retaining high quality, productive employees.
