Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite broadband network, aiming to deliver fast, reliable internet globally. The system is designed for capacity, flexibility, and performance to serve a wide range of customers, including households, schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations in locations without reliable connectivity. Due to export control laws, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted as a refugee or granted asylum. This role seeks an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the Bus Manufacturing Test engineering team at Amazon Leo. The manager will be responsible for the people, processes, and equipment that ensure functional tests run at peak performance. This involves leading a team of engineers, setting technical direction and operational strategy for functional testing of satellite hardware, and building a high-performing team while also engaging hands-on with complex technical challenges. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with ambiguity and eager to solve problems at scale. The position promises significant learning, enjoyment, and a positive impact on millions of people. The Engineering Manager will balance people leadership with hands-on technical engagement, coaching the team, reviewing test rack readiness and calibration, and collaborating with cross-functional partners for continuous improvement and new process development. They will be the primary engineering leader for production issues, driving root cause analysis and corrective actions, and will focus on building long-term team capabilities through hiring, process development, and automation. This is a fast-paced, intellectually challenging position requiring high standards for product performance, quality, and cost.
