About The Position

The Manager, Benefits and Wellbeing, leads the administration and compliance of employee benefits programs by collaborating with senior leadership, legal counsel, and vendors. This role ensures adherence to federal, state, and local regulations while managing third-party administrators and benefits systems. The position involves developing and implementing process improvements, training, and communication strategies to support accurate benefits delivery. The manager also oversees project plans related to plan design changes and eligibility files, providing analytical insights and maintaining strong partnerships to optimize benefits administration and enhance overall organizational wellbeing. About the team: The Absence Management team leads the implementation and ongoing enhancement of Walmart’s accommodations, leave of absence, disability, paid time off, accident, critical illness, and life insurance programs. This team ensures compliance with legal requirements while promoting operational efficiency. Collaborating across functions, members focus on policy maintenance, vendor management, and strategic alignment to deliver seamless associate experiences. Utilizing strong skills in project management, policy analysis, and communication, the team drives continuous improvements in benefits administration and supports reliable, compliant absence solutions that meet business and associate needs.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in benefits administration and vendor management within complex organizational environments.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead plan design changes and system enhancements.
  • Expertise in interpreting and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local health-related regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills to develop training, process documentation, and stakeholder engagement materials.
  • Ability to analyze policies and processes, driving continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with legal, IT, and external partners to implement business solutions.
  • Demonstrated capability in managing escalated issues and providing analytical support to senior leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, or related field OR 2 years’ experience in human resources, group benefits management, group benefits administration, or relevant area.

Responsibilities

  • Support design, interpretation, revision, and execution of ADA, LOA/FMLA, and STD policies, ensuring compliance while supporting associate experience.
  • Serve as ADA, LOA/FMLA, and STD subject matter expert, translating policy needs into business, technology, and operational requirements.
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance and business stakeholders to resolve issues, identify risks, and implement changes.
  • Develop and implement resource documents and conduct policy training to support field associates
  • Analyze data and trends to recommend improvements, simplify processes, support training/communications, and leverage technology and AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency and outcomes.
  • Demonstrate curiosity and problem solving by identifying how technology and automation improve administration while maintaining compliance and associate trust.
