About The Position

The Manager, Awards and Rankings plays a key role in the firm’s PR and Communications team, part of the broader Marketing and Business Development Department. The position is primarily responsible for raising the profile of the firm and its lawyers through strategic participation in legal directories, surveys and awards. This hybrid position may be based in Austin, Dallas, Houston or San Antonio and requires flexibility to visit the office for trainings or meetings on an as-needed basis. This role reports to the firm’s Director, Public Relations and Communications.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and at least eight years of relevant experience in public relations, corporate communications, marketing or a related field.
Strong judgment and attention to detail, with the ability to independently manage high-profile, deadline-driven projects involving multiple stakeholders.
Extensive experience writing and editing for external audiences, with a proven ability to produce compelling, polished and accurate copy.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with exceptional command of English grammar, usage and style.
Experience leveraging AI tools to enhance quality and efficiency where appropriate.
Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with professionals at all levels of the organization, including senior leadership.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
Superior organizational and project management skills, with the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to quickly learn new technologies and platforms.
Demonstrate and promote our business principles of quality, unity and integrity.

Responsibilities

Play an important role in the PR and communications team’s efforts to elevate the firm’s profile, leading awards- and rankings-focused initiatives.
Develop compelling, high-impact nominations for awards and other recognition opportunities involving the firm, practice groups, individual lawyers and clients.
Oversee the firm’s strategy and participation in industry-specific, workplace-focused and regional surveys, collaborating with firm management to develop and shape responses.
Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to firm leadership on legal directory, survey and award opportunities and participation.
Interview lawyers to identify compelling narratives and differentiators that strengthen nominations and submissions.
Manage an awards-focused editorial calendar across regional, legal and trade publications, maintaining and continually refining a strategic pipeline of opportunities.
Lead the firm’s employee engagement survey strategy, overseeing data analysis and presenting insights and recommendations to firm leadership.
Prepare lawyers for key interviews with legal directory and survey researchers and editors.
Support publicity for legal directory rankings and award recognition across the firm’s website, social channels, lawyer CVs and marketing materials.
Manage the firm’s submission strategy and research schedule for key legal directories, partnering closely with business development leadership to meet critical deadlines.
Contribute to broader marketing and communications initiatives as needed.
Coordinate the firm’s participation in award events, including managing logistics for finalists and winners.
