Every day, we rise to the challenge to make a difference and here’s how the Manager Automation and Production Technical Support role will make an impact: This role will provide escalation support for production issues, ensure rapid and effective troubleshooting of manufacturing and packaging equipment, and lead root cause analyses. The Manager will also serve as the engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the deployment of AI-driven automation solutions, assist in developing and implementing AI initiatives, and work cross-functionally with various teams to support safe, compliant, and efficient operations. The position involves supporting the Instrumentation and Controls team with PLC, HMI, SCADA, vision, and serialization systems, managing projects related to automated equipment, and driving reliability improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and 4-7 years of experience
  • Must possess knowledge of the following engineering disciplines: hardware, software, SCADA, PLCs
  • Must be capable of using one or more of the following project management and project execution activities; design coordination; legal contract administration; scheduling, coordination, tracking and reporting; commissioning and validation; project close out; and concorporating of ongoing maintenance requirements
  • Supervisory experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment required

Responsibilities

  • Provide escalation support for production issues to minimize downtime and product impact
  • Ensures rapid and effective troubleshooting of manufacturing and packaging equipment for mechanical, electrical, and vision / control system related problems
  • Lead root cause analyses involving control systems, instrumentation, and vision inspection equipment
  • Be the engineering SME for the deployment of AI driven automation solutions to optimize and improve business processes and efficiency
  • Assist in developing and implementing AI initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals
  • Work with a cross-functionally team including Manufacturing, Packaging, Quality, Validation, IT, Technical Services and Maintenance to support safe, compliant, and efficient operations
  • Supports the Instrumentation and Controls team in PLC, HMI, SCADA, vision and serialization systems for manufacturing and packaging lines including life cycle management, upgrades and obsolescence mitigation
  • Assist the engineering department in controls, software and instrumentation technical support to process equipment, facilities and utilities
  • Manage projects related to design, commissioning and performance improvement of automated equipment
  • Actively participate and support equipment troubleshooting and/or plant shutdown activities
  • Identify technical training opportunities and assist in implementing technical training for instruments and controls team and technical support team members
  • Support training initiatives for maintenance technicians and technical operators
  • Lead efforts in analysis of equipment downtime data and drive reliability improvement initiatives
  • Support, and in some cases lead, new equipment introductions, technology transfers, and capacity expansion projects
  • Track and communicate project activities to all project stake holders
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
  • Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
