About The Position

The Manager Area Maintenance is responsible for leading maintenance teams, ensuring operational efficiency, and managing budgets within a designated area. This role requires strong leadership in safety, operational judgment, people development, financial acumen, and effective communication and collaboration with various departments.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive fleet or heavy-equipment maintenance experience
  • 2+ years leading maintenance teams
  • Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical/electronic systems, and heavy-duty vehicle repair
  • Demonstrated knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and OSHA workplace-safety requirements
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and control maintenance costs
  • Proficiency with fleet/maintenance management software and standard business applications
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • High school diploma or GED required

Nice To Haves

  • Multi-site experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to travel regularly between sites across the assigned area
  • Ability to travel frequently by vehicle between assigned sites
  • Ability to respond to off-hours or emergency situations as needed

Responsibilities

  • Set safety standards and hold teams accountable for safety.
  • Make sound operational decisions under time pressure to maintain fleet operations.
  • Develop and retain strong, motivated shop teams.
  • Manage to budget and understand maintenance cost drivers.
  • Collaborate effectively with operations, procurement, and leadership.
  • Oversee fleet or heavy-equipment maintenance.
  • Lead maintenance teams, potentially across multiple sites.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT/FMCSA regulations and OSHA workplace-safety requirements.
  • Manage budgets and control maintenance costs.
  • Utilize fleet/maintenance management software and standard business applications.
  • Travel regularly between sites across the assigned area.
  • Perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, bending, stooping, climbing, and moving throughout shop and yard environments.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Work in varying conditions including heat, cold, noise, dust, and exposure to fumes.
  • Wear required PPE.
  • Respond to off-hours or emergency situations as needed.
