About The Position

The Area Biomedical Manager (ABM) is responsible for the overall repair and maintenance of dialysis related equipment, physical plant upkeep and repairs, spare parts purchasing and inventory control. The ABM supervises technical personnel and programs in each dialysis unit in assigned region(s).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver' license in applicable state. License must be maintained as current, without restrictions and good driving record.
  • 2 years previous experience in technical management role and/or similar experience managing multi-site locations in dialysis, hospital, or medical environment preferred.
  • Must be familiar with dialysis industry standards and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage the maintenance and repair of dialysis and water treatment equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to function in a leadership position and to perform in new and emergent situations with sound judgment.
  • Confirmation of ability to distinguish all primary colors.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the English language and ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in multiple locations.
  • Must have basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); proficiency in all USRC technical applications required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing overall technical operation of assigned clinics from a fiscal, technical, regulatory, personnel, business management and growth perspective in accordance with Company goals.
  • Assessing and integrating personnel and equipment in any acquired clinic(s).
  • Facilitating installation of dialysis and water related equipment in denovo clinics.
  • Assessing and managing labor hours to maximize effectiveness and support.
  • Assessing repair and maintenance costs and trends to minimize downtime and increase usable life of equipment.
  • Ensuring purchasing protocols are followed and that par levels of supplies and spare parts are adequate. Coordinating relocation of spare part inventories internally to maximize utilization of existing stock and reduce field inventory.
  • Achieving financial targets to include budget, labor costs, supply costs and expenditures.
  • Ensuring machines used in assigned USRC facilities are maintained in accordance to company policy, manufacturer specifications, AAMI standards and federal and state regulations.
  • Ensuring water systems are maintained in accordance to USRC policy, manufacturer specifications, AAMI standards and state and federal requirements.
  • Reviewing all technical related incident reports; making recommendations and taking action relative to incidents as appropriate; reporting at monthly QAPI meeting.
  • Working with staff to maintain chronological, thorough, and appropriate documentation in relation to equipment and water system maintenance.
  • Developing quality and productivity goals and measures.
  • Assisting with development and implementation of processes for program regulatory compliance in accordance with Company goals.
  • Performing duties at all times within limitations established by and in accordance with company policy and procedures, applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Knowing and understanding the function and safe operation of water treatment equipment and related mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Being familiar with instruction manuals and operation for equipment in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations. Being capable of starting up and shutting down facility's equipment if necessary.
  • Continuously monitoring to ensure that a safe and sanitary physical environment is maintained throughout the facility; that all equipment is maintained and functions properly; identification of needed repairs and/or renovations; and that adequate and appropriate inventory levels of all supplies are available and used correctly.
  • Addressing physical environment issues which could impact patient and staff safety.
  • Overseeing the maintenance of equipment and supplies to meet current laws and regulations.
  • Overseeing established preventative maintenance programs and required support documentation.
  • Ensuring written documentation is maintained for devices being serviced.
  • Assisting with necessary Corrective Action Plan development, implementation and follow through as required for internal and external surveys.
  • Planning, coordinating, and approving effective and efficient staffing to meet patient and program needs.
  • Being familiar with all emergency equipment and emergency operational procedures.
  • Using appropriate safety measures including personal protective equipment as necessary.
  • Ensuring Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are updated as required.
  • Understanding, leading and promoting the Company's mission and philosophy relating to ethics, integrity, safety, corporate responsibility and objectives.
  • Communicating with regional management on a consistent basis regarding the status of each clinic in the region.
  • Being aware of all contracts and contacts necessary for the emergency repair of clinic equipment and mechanical systems in assigned region(s).
  • Coordinating major repairs and renovations with outside vendors as necessary; obtaining quotes from reputable and approved contractors to address physical environment issues as needed.
  • Attending and presenting technical summaries in QAPI meetings as needed.
  • Maintaining collaborative working relationship with Administrator(s) and regional management. Partnering with Administrator(s) and regional management to ensure clinic needs are met.
  • Actively promoting GUEST customer service standards; developing effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Responding effectively to inquiries or concerns.
  • Ensuring all technical staff meet required qualifications for position held and perform duties within limitations established by and in accordance with company policy/procedures, health care professionals practice acts, applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Recruiting, training, developing, and supervising technical personnel in assigned region(s).
  • Maintaining effective personnel management and employee relations, including evaluating the performance of all personnel; approving and submitting all hours worked and counseling and disciplining employees.
  • Completing initial and annual technical training on clinical and technical staff as required.
  • Instructing staff in use and care of equipment and answering questions.
  • Participating in staff meetings as required. Attending in-service and continuing education offerings in compliance with company policy and procedure.
