Anthropic•San Francisco, NY

About The Position

Anthropic is hiring the first leader of its Applied AI Security team. The team helps security organizations use Claude effectively and responsibly for work such as code review, vulnerability discovery, alert triage, and investigation. The manager will build the team from the ground up, determine which security customers and segments it serves first, set hiring priorities, and establish how it works with Sales, Applied AI Engineering, and security, legal, and trust partners. The role also includes direct engagement with a small number of strategic customers, learning from those engagements to create repeatable practices for the wider team. The manager will establish standards for responsible use of Claude in security workflows, including when human review is necessary before action is taken. They will guide customers from discovery through evaluations and proofs of concept with written success criteria, and help them develop sustained workloads across the security development lifecycle, automated penetration testing, alert triage and investigation, and vulnerability and threat intelligence. The role will also create initial security playbooks, reference implementations, and evaluation approaches, and share customer insights with Product, Engineering, and Research. The position requires substantial experience leading customer-facing technical teams, practical security expertise, experience applying LLMs to real security work, and experience managing enterprise security deals in partnership with Sales. Anthropic currently expects staff to work from an office at least 25% of the time, though some roles may require more. The role offers hybrid work under this policy. Minimum education is a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience, in a field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.

Requirements

  • 12 or more years of industry experience.
  • At least 4 years managing a team of customer-facing technical professionals, such as solutions architects, sales engineers, or security consultants, with evidence of team growth and performance.
  • Hands-on security expertise in at least one area, such as application security, detection and response, offensive security, or vulnerability management, sufficient to earn practitioners’ trust.
  • Experience using LLMs for practical security work such as code review, vulnerability discovery, triage, or investigation, and the ability to explain where they helped and where they failed.
  • Experience managing large enterprise security deals end to end, including customer security reviews, in close partnership with Sales.
  • Ability to explain security risk and value to both CISOs and the engineers who will run the work.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • Relevant field of study, demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.
