About The Position

The Manager-Anatomical Services provides oversight for day-to-day operations of the Bodies for Science Program. Provides oversight and coordination for the implementation of various projects. Assists the Director with tracking budget and staffing requirements. Interacts with grieving people in a calm and positive manner with compassion and sensitivity to death and dying issues. Exercises discretion and maintains confidentiality with regards to donors and donor records. Performs other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Minimum two years of relevant work experience required.
  • Knowledge of California law governing crematories, funeral directors, embalmers, Cal-OSHA, AQMD, organ donations, California Business and Professions Code, California Code of Regulations, California Health and Safety Code, Death Registration, Preneed Health and Safety.
  • Demonstrated computer skills using databases, spreadsheets, and word programs.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Active listening and effective communication skills with compassion, empathy, caring, and understanding when interacting with distressed and grieving family members of deceased donors.
  • Able to read; write and speak with professional quality.
  • Use computer and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Access).
  • Operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position.
  • Relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others.
  • Provide leadership.
  • Be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, rules and laws.

  • California Electronic Death Registration System (CA-EDRS) registration
  • California Cremation Manager License (If none – all must be obtained within 6 months of hire date).
  • Valid Driver’s license with acceptable driving history.
