About The Position

Invenergy is seeking an Air Permitting Manager for its Thermal Group. This role will be responsible for managing air permitting for greenfield and brownfield standalone simple cycle and combined cycle combustion turbine projects in the United States. The position can be based in Chicago headquarters. The manager will be the primary interface with consultants and state/federal agencies for Clean Air Act Major New Source Review Prevention of Significant Deterioration and Nonattainment New Source Review air permitting programs. Responsibilities include evaluating available thermal power generation technologies, supporting market entry analysis, site evaluation, permit ability and acquisition, performing and managing internal and external resource activities, and collaborating with Engineering, Procurement, and Government Affairs and Regulatory teams. The role also involves reporting and executing project management throughout the project development lifecycle and representing Invenergy LLC with various stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field of study.
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role and industry.
  • Familiarity with utility-scale major and minor source air permitting requirements.
  • Familiarity with thermal energy production and operation.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time to project sites.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the air permitting process for a portfolio of development, construction, and operation projects.
  • Serving as the primary interface with consultants and state/federal agencies for Clean Air Act Major New Source Review Prevention of Significant Deterioration and Nonattainment New Source Review air permitting programs.
  • Evaluating available thermal power generation technologies that may be deployed to meet market needs, including dispatchable technologies utilizing natural gas or fuel oil, and potentially carbon capture.
  • Supporting market entry analysis, site evaluation, permit ability, and acquisition.
  • Performing and managing internal and external resource activities, such as data verification, memos, consultation with customers, site requirements, regulatory submittals, engineering, and environmental permitting.
  • Working collaboratively with the Engineering team and Procurement team for equipment specifications.
  • Reporting and executing project management throughout the project development lifecycle.
  • Working collaboratively with the Government Affairs and Regulatory team to understand key market drivers on air permitting for project development.
  • Representing Invenergy LLC with customers, state and local officials, industry associations, and other stakeholders.
