About The Position

Walmart Marketplace is seeking a Manager of Advanced Analytics, Seller Risk to drive data-driven decision-making and shape risk strategy across its seller ecosystem. This role involves partnering with Product, Business, and Risk teams to define success metrics, identify risk exposure, and design scalable controls to balance seller growth with marketplace integrity. The position is responsible for building a holistic view of seller risk performance throughout the seller lifecycle, from onboarding to post-onboarding monitoring. The role will leverage large-scale data and analytics to identify gaps, quantify risk and business impact, and influence policy and product decisions. This is a highly visible role that collaborates closely with senior leaders across business and product teams to drive impact on Marketplace performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 4+ years of experience in data analysis or an analytical role, preferably in risk management
  • Strong organizational skills, a strong sense of ownership and accountability, and the ability to lead projects, communicate effectively, and be a self-starter
  • Experience with commerce platforms, acquiring and seller risk management
  • Storytelling with data
  • Experience solving new problems – digging in and finding answers
  • Customer centricity at the forefront
  • Experience working in multiple business areas / functions / segments
  • Strong understanding of statistics with applied experience on analyzing large data sets
  • Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Sound knowledge of managing data for experiments (sampling, labelling, EDA, etc.)
  • Strong skills in Python, R, SQL, and Hive queries
  • Experience transforming/automating data within cloud architectures (ie. Google Cloud Platform)
  • Hands-on experience with data visualization and reporting tools such as Tableau, R Shiny, and/or Looker
  • Ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders, including data scientists and data engineers
  • Curiosity, proactivity, and comfort working in unstructured environments
  • Experience driving understanding of customers and their interaction with products, through in-depth analyses of user behavior and engagement
  • Passion for working in a fast-paced agile environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, or related field and 2 years' experience in data analytics or related field OR 4 years' experience in data analytics or related field.

  • Background in Marketplace Analytics, Retail and/or eCommerce Analytics

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a high-performance culture, delivering multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced and growing segment of Walmart eCommerce.
  • Contribute to the development of strategy for reporting, testing, analyzing, and forecasting business and risk performance for the Marketplace (3rd Party Sellers) segment.
  • Identify and provide both tactical ad hoc insights and a strategic ongoing roadmap of deep analytics to inform seller risk management performance and policies.
  • Deliver key data-driven business insights, working with cross-functional partners to translate risk insights into business/product strategy.
  • Work with the Product Management team to find gaps in current products, potential risk controls, gather requirements, create data moratoriums, and design state-of-the-art data products for helping business users.
  • Collaborate on roadmaps with the Product, Data Science, and other Analytics teams to understand growth and risk factors of new and future product releases.
  • Define how teams measure success by developing user/business metrics.
  • Work effectively with Business, Product, Technology, and Data teams to understand strategy and operating models and translate that into the right analytic approaches, data requirements, and data models.
  • Design and conduct A/B and multi-variate tests by developing test plans, defining success metrics, analyzing, and transforming data into actionable insights.
  • Operate with agility while effectively leveraging corporate structure to achieve goals.
  • Gain support from the broader Walmart enterprise by engaging with cross-functional teams, leadership, and key stakeholders.
