Overview Senior Manager, Accounts Payable UnityPoint Health is seeking a strategic Senior Manager of Accounts Payable to lead AP operations across all entities. This role oversees end-to-end accounts payable functions, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency while driving process improvements and automation. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required, with a minimum of 5 years of professional accounting experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Management experience in a healthcare organization is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day leadership of the Accounts Payable function, ensuring efficient, accurate, and timely processing of all payables.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives and drive system automation to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and prevent errors or irregularities.
  • Oversee invoice review and payment activities, ensuring timely payments and maximizing available discounts.
  • Monitor vendor credit balances and refunds, ensuring prompt reconciliation and resolution.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Accounts Payable team, fostering a collaborative, customer service–focused culture.
  • Establish clear performance standards and ensure consistent execution of best practices across the team.
  • Encourage team-driven innovation by promoting change recommendations and implementing improved processes and procedures.
  • Resolve complex or escalated payment issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of all required governmental reporting, including 1099 filings.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits related to Accounts Payable, including follow-up on outstanding items.
  • Manage short- and long-term departmental goals, aligning priorities with organizational objectives.
  • Develop and track key performance metrics, drive continuous improvement, and promote efficient, effective A/P operations.
  • Oversee staffing, coaching, performance management, and ongoing team development.
