About The Position

The Manager-Accounting will be responsible for managing the financial activities of the Distribution business and its branches, including financial accounting, budgeting & forecasting, risk management and managing the day-to-day operations and activities of the finance department. Acting as the Finance Leader, this role has a strong dotted line reporting relationship to the General Manager, Distribution and in this capacity acts as a business partner to the General Manager. The Finance Leader will ensure the development of relevant business metrics, maintenance of accurate accounting systems, maintenance of an effective internal control environment, and timely and relevant financial planning and reporting. Other major responsibilities include management of accounting staff, and support process improvement or new business initiatives. This position must ensure that Westlake Accounting Policies and the Delegation of Authority are complied with.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Accounting or equivalent with ten plus years of progressive accounting experience preferably with a large multi-national company.
  • CPA designation and/or Master’s degree required.
  • Demonstrated acumen in balancing the custodian and business partner facets of the leadership role.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of ERP accounting systems including JDE and SAP BPC is critical to the position.
  • Applicant should be proficient with Microsoft Excel (required), SAP BPC and have database experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Product distribution experience in a multi-location environment is preferred.
  • Exposure to PowerBI is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial guidance to the General Manager and team to support business growth and performance objectives.
  • Develop sales and profitability reporting tools to provide to the branch managers and sales staff.
  • Manage significant quarterly bonus and incentive plans, including target setting, payouts, plan design.
  • Supervise the daily activities of the Finance Department, with an emphasis on continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly financial books and maintain the integrity of the internal accounts.
  • Produce reports for Management on the key financial metrics of the business including the monthly business review presentation and supporting branch queries.
  • Maintain constructive working relationships with co-workers, and supervisors/managers.
  • Prepare the annual budget and monthly forecasts for the business, with appropriate variance analysis.
  • Actively participate with corporate accounting on accounting and financial reporting issues including external financial reporting and external audit support.
  • Oversee Sarbanes Oxley compliance and the internal control environment.
  • Manage special projects and analyses as required.
  • Handles any additional responsibilities or tasks as assigned.
